What should I look for when buying a used BMW X2?

Key things to evaluate:

• Fuel efficiency: The X2 xDrive28i M Sport averaged 11.2 litres per 100 kilometres, considerably higher than the official Natural Resources Canada fuel consumption estimate of 8.5 L/100 km in combined driving. (The M35i is estimated to burn 8.9 L/100 km in combined driving.)

Which BMW X2 trim should I buy?

The 2024 BMW X2 offers these trims:

• xDrive28i: This is the entry point and brings standard all-wheel drive, the BMW Curved Display with iDrive 9, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and standard safety tech such as forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, active blind-spot monitoring, and lane departure warning. It suits you if you want the core X2 experience with the strongest value focus.
• M35i: This is the performance-oriented choice, adding the more powerful 312 hp version of the turbocharged 2.0-litre engine and the more engaging driving character that comes with it. If you want the most dynamic X2, this is the one to target.

What BMW X2 do most buyers choose?

The BMW X2 years with the most listings are 2025, 2026, and 2024.

Higher-volume years usually give you more choice on trim, colour, and equipment, which makes it easier to find a match that fits your budget and priorities. They also tend to be the years shoppers cross-shop most often, so pricing and deal activity are usually easier to compare.

What is the BMW X2's resale value?

Most of the model years shown have dropped in price over the past year, which can work in your favour if you are shopping used. The largest declines are concentrated in the older and recent-model years, while the smaller changes suggest some years are moving more gradually.

The 2022, 2024, and 2018 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the BMW X2 safe?

• 2024: 9/10

BMW equips the X2 with standard forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, active blind-spot monitoring, and lane departure warning.

For the safest used buy, the 2024 model posts the highest confirmed score of 9/10.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: Both versions of the X2 have a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, and the xDrive28i makes 241 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque while the M35i makes 312 hp and the same amount of torque.
• Tech: The BMW Curved Display houses a 10.25-inch digital instrumentation panel and a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system powered by BMW Operating System 9 (iDrive 9), and the standard BMW Live Cockpit Plus setup adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
• Safety: The optional Advanced Driving Assistance Package adds adaptive cruise control, lane-keep, lane-centring assist, evasive steering assist, lane-change assist, emergency stop assist, and Traffic Jam Assistant with hands-free driving on selected limited-access highways at speeds under 65 km/h.
• Starting price: Prices for the 2024 X2 range from $52,055 CAD to $62,655 CAD.
