What should I look for when buying a used Audi Q7?

Key things to evaluate:

• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates the Q7 with the 55 TFSI power plant at 13.0 litres per 100 kilometres in the city, 10.0 on the highway, and 11.7 combined. If you’re looking for better fuel economy out of the Audi, you’ll have to jump down to the smaller engine with its 12.0 L/100 km city, 9.2 highway, and 10.7 combined.

Which Audi Q7 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Audi Q7 offers these trims:

• Q7: The base trim gives you the core Q7 experience, and the source recommends sticking with it if you want to add the more potent engine for the best overall value.
• Progressiv: This trim adds the 3.0-litre turbo V6 as standard, bringing stronger performance and 365 pound-feet of torque.
• Technik: The top trim adds the 3.0-litre turbo V6 and the most fully equipped presentation, but the source says its price can climb quickly and its ADAS features are outdated.

What Audi Q7 do most buyers choose?

The Audi Q7 years with the most listings are 2018, 2022, and 2017.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more inventory to compare, which can make it easier to find the right combination of price, equipment, and condition. They also often sit in the part of the lineup where the Q7’s core strengths — luxury, space, and road manners — are well represented.

What is the Audi Q7's resale value?

Most Audi Q7 model years are showing double-digit year-over-year price declines, which creates more room for used buyers to find value. The newer models are still moving down meaningfully, while the oldest examples in the table are changing by much smaller amounts. That pattern suggests the Q7 is offering stronger used-market pricing across much of the lineup right now.

The 2015, 2014, and 2025 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Audi Q7 safe?

• 2025: 6/10
• 2020: 8/10

The 2025 Q7 has all the advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) you’d expect in a luxury SUV, like blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, cruise control, and adaptive cruise control on upper trims.

For the safest used buy, the 2020 model posts the highest confirmed score of 8/10.

Should I buy a used Audi Q7 now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −10.18% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −11.04%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 28% good and great deals.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2018 model has the most listings at a current average price of $21,733 CAD. The Audi Q7 offers a luxurious cabin, a smooth ride, and a polished driving character that make it feel like a premium family SUV. Consider waiting if:
• Powertrain/efficiency: Buyers of the base Q7 have their choice of two different engines, including a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine that produces 261 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque, or a 3.0-litre turbo V6 with 335 ponies and 365 pound-feet of torque.
• Tech: Audi’s Multi Media Interface (MMI) infotainment system is housed on a 10.1-inch centre screen with a smaller screen below for HVAC controls, and new for this year is the Audi App Store, offering downloads of third-party programs like Spotify, YouTube, and Amazon Music.
• Safety: The 2025 Q7 has all the advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) you’d expect in a luxury SUV, like blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, cruise control, and adaptive cruise control on upper trims.
• Starting price: In Canada, the 2025 Audi Q7 starts at $79,150 CAD, including the destination charge and other fees.

If you're buying used today, the 2018 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
