New & Used 2026 Mazda MAZDA3 for Sale near New Jersey, NB

Is the 2026 Mazda MAZDA3 a good car?

The 2026 Mazda MAZDA3 earns a 6.5/10 from our experts. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

It stands out as a compact car that brings style and athleticism to a segment that often leans practical rather than exciting. The cabin feels more like entry-level luxury fare, and the driving experience is spirited, which makes it appealing if you want a small car that feels more polished and rewarding than most.

The trade-offs are clear: the base engine is underwhelming, the back seat is cramped, and the technology feels outdated. Even so, the Mazda3’s available all-wheel drive and upscale presentation give it a stronger personality than many rivals.

With 28.6% of listings priced as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Mazda MAZDA3 reliable?

The 2026 Mazda MAZDA3 is described as aging gracefully, and its safety and performance notes suggest a car that should feel familiar rather than complicated to live with. Its standard powertrain is straightforward, and the test-drive notes say the engine does not sound overstressed even when pushed.

The dependability picture is helped by the car’s simple, easy-to-use controls and the fact that most systems behaved as expected in testing. If you choose a well-kept example, long-term ownership risk should be manageable, but you should still pay close attention to maintenance history and the condition of the electronics.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Mazda MAZDA3?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim is the most stripped-down version, while higher trims add a larger touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, a wireless charging pad, and more upscale cabin features. The top trim also adds a head-up display, lane centring, a surround-view camera system, and reverse automatic braking.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.5-litre four-cylinder makes 186 horsepower and is adequate, but it is not especially quick. AWD is optional on higher trims, and the Turbo engine on the GT brings much stronger output.
• Safety package: i-Activsense is standard and includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, a driver condition monitor, blind-spot monitors, and rear cross-traffic alert. The top GT adds adaptive headlights, a head-up display, lane centring, a surround-view camera system, and reverse automatic braking.
• Infotainment: The standard 8.8-inch display is not a touchscreen and uses a dial controller. Higher trims get a 10.25-inch touchscreen, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included on those trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine sedan is rated at 7.8 L/100 km combined, with 8.8 city and 6.6 highway. AWD raises the combined figure to 8.1 L/100 km, and the Turbo engine increases it to 8.8 L/100 km combined.

Which 2026 Mazda MAZDA3 trim should I buy?

The 2026 Mazda MAZDA3 is offered in 3 trim levels: GX, GS, GT.

Here's the short version:

• GX: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Mazda3’s style and driving character at the lowest price, but it is also the most basic version.
• GS: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it opens the door to AWD and adds more flexibility without jumping all the way to the top trim.
• GT: Choose this if you want the most complete Mazda3 experience, including the larger touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, and available premium features such as the Bose audio system and advanced safety upgrades.

The GT adds the most safety and convenience equipment, while the GS is the trim to focus on if you want a strong balance of value and available AWD.

Is the 2026 Mazda MAZDA3 safe?

The 2026 Mazda MAZDA3 was awarded a five-out-of-five-star rating in all evaluations by NHTSA, and the IIHS gave it its highest Top Safety Pick+ award.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

i-Activsense is standard and includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, a driver condition monitor, blind-spot monitors, and rear cross-traffic alert. The top GT adds adaptive headlights, a head-up display, lane centring, a surround-view camera system, and reverse automatic braking.

One caveat from testing is that the adaptive cruise control could react too late to slowing traffic, which may make highway driving less relaxed than you would expect.

Should I buy a 2026 Mazda MAZDA3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• The 2026 keeps the Mazda3’s stylish cabin, fun driving character, and available AWD.

Consider the 2025 if:

• It offers sedan and hatchback body styles with a broad mix of trims and powertrains.

The bottom line: If you want the current Mazda3’s style, driving enjoyment, and available AWD, the 2026 is the straightforward pick. If you are shopping mainly on flexibility and want to compare body styles and powertrain choices, the 2025 is worth a look too.
