CarGurus Analysis: 2026 Mazda CX-90
overall
Summary
With 226 currently listed for sale and an average price of $59,023 CAD, 34.1% of 2026 Mazda CX-90 listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2026 Mazda CX-90 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6 / 10.
Why it stands out
The 2026 Mazda CX-90 is a three-row midsize crossover SUV that aims to blend family usefulness with a more engaging driving experience. It has a premium look and feel, and its standard gasoline powertrain is fairly fuel efficient. Mazda also offers a plug-in hybrid powertrain, giving buyers another option if they want something beyond the standard setup.
What stands out most about the 2026 CX-90 is how strongly it leans into style and handling for a vehicle in this class. The available updates for 2026 are minor and focus on wheel, colour, and trim changes that unify the lineup, so the core appeal remains the same: upscale design, solid safety ratings, and driving dynamics that can put a smile on any face. The trade-offs are worth noting, though, because the powertrain is described as unrefined, the third row is cramped, and the technology can be unintuitive.

Is the 2026 Mazda CX-90 a good car?
Yes — the 2026 Mazda CX-90 is a 5/5 pick if you want a three-row SUV that prioritises style and driving feel over maximum space. The overview points to a longer wheelbase than the CX-9 it replaced, more room for passengers and cargo, and seating for six, seven, or eight depending on configuration. It also brings all-wheel drive, an eight-speed automatic, and a towing rating of up to 2,268 kilograms, which makes it a practical family SUV with a more premium, engaging character than many rivals. 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2026 Mazda CX-90 reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The overview also suggests a well-rounded ownership experience: the CX-90 uses Mazda’s all-wheel-drive setup, an eight-speed automatic, and a range of powertrains that include a turbocharged inline six and a plug-in hybrid. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a more complex, feature-rich SUV can be costlier to maintain if you choose a higher-trim or more heavily equipped example.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Mazda CX-90?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and compare listings carefully.
- Deal availability: 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 228 listings available.
Should I buy a 2026 Mazda CX-90 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2026 if:
- 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2025 if:
- It offers unusual powertrain choices, premium materials, and strong safety appeal.
The bottom line: Choose the 2026 if you want the latest version of Mazda’s three-row SUV with strong market availability and a premium-feeling driving experience. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2025 is worth a look because it delivers many of the same core strengths and may open up more value-focused shopping opportunities.
How does the 2026 Mazda CX-90 compare to the 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander?
| Spec | 2026 Mazda CX-90 | 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander |
|---|---|---|
| Starting MSRP | $39,300 CAD | $42,260 CAD |
| Engine | 3.3L 280 hp I6 | 2.4L 265 hp I4 |
| Horsepower | 280 hp @ 5000 rpm | 265 hp @ 6000 rpm |
| MPG/MPGe (city) | 23 | 21 |
| MPG/MPGe (highway) | 28 | 28 |
| Listings available | 228 | 41 |
| Good & great deal share | 26.8% | 24.4% |
The CX-90 gives you the lower starting price, more horsepower, and far more listings to shop from. The Grand Highlander counters with a roomier mainstream family-SUV approach, but if you want stronger availability and a more engaging feel, the Mazda is the easier one to find and compare.
