CarGurus Analysis: 2026 Mazda CX-90
Summary
With 228 currently listed for sale and an average price of $60,512 CAD, 25.4% of 2026 Mazda CX-90 listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2026 Mazda CX-90 5 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2026 Mazda CX-90 stands out as a three-row SUV that leans into Mazda’s sportier side rather than chasing maximum space. It has a longer wheelbase than the CX-9 it replaced, which gives it more room inside for passengers and cargo, while still keeping the brand’s emphasis on style and driving feel. Buyers can choose six-, seven-, or eight-seat layouts depending on configuration and trim, and the CX-90 is rated to tow up to 2,268 kilograms.
It is also distinctive for its powertrain range. The CX-90 offers a 3.3-litre turbocharged inline six in two outputs, both paired with Mazda’s M-Hybrid Boost 48-volt mild hybrid system, plus a plug-in hybrid version with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine, an electric motor, and a 17.8-kWh battery pack. The plug-in hybrid can travel up to 43 kilometres on electricity when fully charged. All CX-90s come with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission, along with Mazda Intelligent Drive Select, Sport and Off-Road modes, and Kinematic Posture Control.
Inside, the CX-90’s appeal depends on trim, but even the base model includes a 10.25-inch centre display, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch instrument display, and a long list of standard safety features. Higher trims add items such as wireless smartphone integration, a 12.3-inch centre display, premium audio, ventilated seats, and more advanced driver assistance features. The trade-off is that Mazda’s infotainment controls can feel fiddly, the ride borders on stiff, and the CX-90 is smaller inside than some class leaders. Even so, it remains a compelling choice for buyers who want a premium-feeling family SUV with a more engaging character than many rivals.

Is the 2026 Mazda CX-90 a good car?
Yes — the 2026 Mazda CX-90 is a 5/5 pick if you want a three-row SUV that prioritises style and driving feel over maximum space. The overview points to a longer wheelbase than the CX-9 it replaced, more room for passengers and cargo, and seating for six, seven, or eight depending on configuration. It also brings all-wheel drive, an eight-speed automatic, and a towing rating of up to 2,268 kilograms, which makes it a practical family SUV with a more premium, engaging character than many rivals. 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2026 Mazda CX-90 reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The overview also suggests a well-rounded ownership experience: the CX-90 uses Mazda’s all-wheel-drive setup, an eight-speed automatic, and a range of powertrains that include a turbocharged inline six and a plug-in hybrid. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a more complex, feature-rich SUV can be costlier to maintain if you choose a higher-trim or more heavily equipped example.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Mazda CX-90?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and compare listings carefully.
- Deal availability: 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 228 listings available.
Should I buy a 2026 Mazda CX-90 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2026 if:
- 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2025 if:
- It offers unusual powertrain choices, premium materials, and strong safety appeal.
The bottom line: Choose the 2026 if you want the latest version of Mazda’s three-row SUV with strong market availability and a premium-feeling driving experience. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2025 is worth a look because it delivers many of the same core strengths and may open up more value-focused shopping opportunities.
How does the 2026 Mazda CX-90 compare to the 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander?
| Spec | 2026 Mazda CX-90 | 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander |
|---|---|---|
| Starting MSRP | $39,300 CAD | $42,260 CAD |
| Engine | 3.3L 280 hp I6 | 2.4L 265 hp I4 |
| Horsepower | 280 hp @ 5000 rpm | 265 hp @ 6000 rpm |
| MPG/MPGe (city) | 23 | 21 |
| MPG/MPGe (highway) | 28 | 28 |
| Listings available | 228 | 41 |
| Good & great deal share | 26.8% | 24.4% |
The CX-90 gives you the lower starting price, more horsepower, and far more listings to shop from. The Grand Highlander counters with a roomier mainstream family-SUV approach, but if you want stronger availability and a more engaging feel, the Mazda is the easier one to find and compare.
