New & Used 2026 Mazda CX-5 for Sale nearRouyn-Noranda, QC

Is the 2026 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

The 2026 Mazda CX-5 earns an 7.17/10 expert rating, and it is aimed squarely at you if you value style, interior quality, and a strong feature set in a compact crossover. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Mazda’s redesign gives it a more modern look and a roomier, more technologically advanced cabin, and standard all-wheel drive plus Google built-in make it feel well equipped across the lineup. The trade-offs are the carryover 187-horsepower engine and six-speed automatic, which feel dated and sluggish, especially with the added weight of the redesign.

If you want a compact SUV that looks and feels upscale and comes loaded with equipment, the CX-5 makes a strong case for itself. If efficiency or performance matters more, the weak powertrain is hard to ignore. Good and great deals account for 15.8% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

The 2026 Mazda CX-5 is presented as a familiar, mechanically straightforward SUV with a carryover 2.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder and a six-speed automatic, which generally points to a simpler ownership experience than more complex turbocharged or hybrid setups. Mazda also backs it with a standard three-year basic warranty and a five-year powertrain warranty, both with unlimited kilometres in Canada.

Its updated structure, revised crumple zones, and expanded safety hardware suggest Mazda has kept durability and protection in mind as part of the redesign. The powertrain itself is not especially sophisticated, which can be a plus for long-term dependability, but the lack of a hybrid or more modern transmission means you should expect the usual wear-and-tear risks of a conventional gas SUV over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Mazda CX-5?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GX trim is the most basic version, and you should pay attention to what it leaves out compared with the GS and GT, especially if you want more convenience and comfort features.
• Powertrain: You get a carryover SkyActiv-G 2.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder with 187 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic and standard AWD. It is smooth enough in normal driving, but it feels underpowered and thirsty for the class.
• Safety package: Every trim includes adaptive cruise control with speed limit assist, automatic emergency braking with turn-across traffic detection and head-on collision mitigation, rear automatic emergency braking with rear cross-traffic alert and pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, blind spot monitors, vehicle exit warning, driver attention alert, traffic sign recognition, front and rear parking sensors, and dynamic guidelines for the rear-view camera. The GT adds an adaptive front-lighting system, and the Premium Package adds front cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, Cruising & Traffic Support with Lane-Change Assist, a driver monitoring system, and a 360-degree View Monitor.
• Infotainment: All trims get a 12.9-inch touchscreen, Google built-in, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on the GX, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on the GS and GT. The GT Premium Package adds a 15.6-inch screen.
• Fuel efficiency: The CX-5 is rated at 9.9 L/100 km in the city, 7.9 on the highway, and 9.0 combined, which is a weak point in this class.

Which 2026 Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2026 Mazda CX-5 is offered in 3 trim levels: GX, GS, GT.

Here's the short version:

• GX: This is the entry point, and it already gives you standard AWD, the full safety suite, Google built-in, and the new 12.9-inch touchscreen. It makes sense if you want the lowest price and are comfortable with a more basic feature set.
• GS: This is the best-value trim. It adds 19-inch wheels, a power liftgate, a head-up display, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a 10-way power driver’s seat with memory, making it the sweet spot for most buyers.
• GT: This is the trim to choose if you want the most upscale feel, with leather seating, a Bose 12-speaker audio system, SiriusXM satellite radio, and available Premium Package upgrades such as the larger 15.6-inch screen and 360-degree camera system.

The GT trim adds an adaptive front-lighting system, and the Premium Package adds front cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, Cruising & Traffic Support with Lane-Change Assist, a driver monitoring system, and the 360-degree View Monitor.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Every trim includes adaptive cruise control with speed limit assist, automatic emergency braking with turn-across traffic detection and head-on collision mitigation, rear automatic emergency braking with rear cross-traffic alert and pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, blind spot monitors, vehicle exit warning, driver attention alert, traffic sign recognition, front and rear parking sensors, and dynamic guidelines for the rear-view camera. The GT adds an adaptive front-lighting system, while the Premium Package adds front cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, Cruising & Traffic Support with Lane-Change Assist, a driver monitoring system, and a 360-degree View Monitor.

Crash test results from NHTSA and IIHS had not been published at the time of writing, so you should treat the CX-5’s safety reputation as promising but not yet fully confirmed for this model year.

Should I buy a 2026 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 15.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Mazda’s redesign gives you a much more modern cabin, standard AWD, and Google built-in across the lineup.

Consider the 2025 if:

• It offers a more engaging drive in a stylish, upscale package.

The bottom line: If you want the newest CX-5 with the biggest leap in design, technology, and standard equipment, the 2026 is the one to target. If you are more price-sensitive and can live with the older-generation package, the 2025 remains the better value play for buyers who care more about driving enjoyment than the latest redesign.
