New & Used 2026 Mazda CX-5 for Sale nearNew Westminster, BC

Is the 2026 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

The 2026 Mazda CX-5 earns a 7.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

It is a strong fit if you want a compact crossover that leans into style, interior quality, and standard equipment. Mazda’s redesign makes it longer, wider, more spacious, and more technologically advanced, while standard all-wheel drive and Google built-in across the lineup give it a well-equipped feel from the start.

The trade-offs are clear: the carryover 187-horsepower engine and six-speed automatic feel dated, and the added weight of the redesign makes the powertrain seem even more sluggish. Fuel economy is also a weak point, so if you care most about efficiency or quick acceleration, this is not the most convincing choice.

With 14.0% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market looks moderately selective rather than especially bargain-heavy.

Is the 2026 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

The 2026 CX-5 is presented as a familiar Mazda formula with a carryover powertrain, standard all-wheel drive, and a design update that does not appear to compromise the brand’s usual emphasis on solid road manners and upscale execution. Mazda also backs it with a standard three-year basic warranty and a five-year powertrain warranty, both with unlimited kilometres in Canada.

Its dependability story is helped by the fact that the mechanical package is straightforward, but the long-term ownership picture still depends on how you feel about the dated transmission and the lack of a hybrid alternative. For used buyers, that means the main risk is not complexity so much as living with a powertrain that may feel increasingly behind the segment over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Mazda CX-5?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GX trim gets the basics, but the GS adds the most appealing everyday upgrades, including 19-inch wheels, a power liftgate, a head-up display, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a 10-way power driver’s seat with memory. The GT adds leather seating and a more upscale feel, while the Premium Package brings the larger screen and extra camera and monitoring tech.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses the carryover SkyActiv-G 2.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder with 187 horsepower and a six-speed automatic. It is smooth enough in normal driving, but it feels underpowered in this larger, heavier CX-5.
• Safety package: Every trim includes adaptive cruise control with speed limit assist, automatic emergency braking with turn-across traffic detection and head-on collision mitigation, rear automatic emergency braking with rear cross-traffic alert and pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, blind spot monitors, vehicle exit warning, driver attention alert, traffic sign recognition, front and rear parking sensors, and dynamic guidelines for the rear-view camera. The GT adds adaptive front-lighting, and the Premium Package adds front cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, Cruising & Traffic Support with Lane-Change Assist, a driver monitoring system, and a 360-degree View Monitor.
• Infotainment: All trims get a 12.9-inch touchscreen, Google built-in, and a 10.2-inch fully digital instrument cluster. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are wired on the GX and wireless on the GS and GT. The GT Premium Package adds a 15.6-inch screen.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates it at 9.9 litres per 100 kilometres in the city, 7.9 on the highway, and 9.0 combined.

Which 2026 Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2026 Mazda CX-5 is offered in 3 trim levels: GX, GS, GT.

Here's the short version:

• GX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core CX-5 experience with standard all-wheel drive, Google built-in, and the full safety suite. It makes sense if you want the lowest price and are comfortable with the most basic equipment.
• GS: This is the best-value trim. It adds the most useful everyday upgrades, including 19-inch wheels, a power liftgate, a head-up display, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a 10-way power driver’s seat with memory. If you want the sweet spot between price and features, this is the one to target.
• GT: This is the trim to choose if you want a more premium cabin, including leather seating, plus the option to add the Premium Package for the larger screen, 360-degree camera system, driver monitoring, and other advanced features.

The GT’s Premium Package also adds the more advanced safety and driver-assistance features, so if you want the most complete safety and tech setup, that is the trim path to look at.

Should I buy a 2026 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

• Choose the 2026 if: 14.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals. It brings a full redesign, standard all-wheel drive, and a much more modern cabin and tech setup.
• Consider the 2025 if: It is sportier and more engaging, with a more desirable driving feel.
• The bottom line: Buy the 2026 if you want the newest CX-5 design, more space, and a stronger feature set. If you are more price-sensitive and value a sportier feel over the latest update, the 2025 remains the easier compromise.
