New & Used 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee for Sale nearPrince George, BC

Is the 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee a good car?

The 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns an expert rating of 6.83/10. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

You’re looking at a midsize SUV that gets a mild refresh for 2026, including a new turbocharged four-cylinder engine, updated styling, and a larger touchscreen. It still makes a strong case if you care more about towing ability and off-road capability than outright efficiency. The trade-offs are clear: the Grand Cherokee loses its 4xe plug-in hybrid powertrain for 2026, and the test-drive notes point to middling fuel economy and poor value for money.

If you want a capable, well-equipped SUV with a more modern feel, it remains appealing. If efficiency and value are your top priorities, the compromises are harder to ignore. 25.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?

The 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee is presented as a familiar, mainstream SUV with a three-year/60,000-kilometre basic warranty and a five-year/100,000-kilometre powertrain warranty. The new Hurricane four-cylinder is described as impressive, with broad power delivery and strong towing ability, while the rest of the driving experience remains unchanged.

Jeep also says the new engine should improve fuel economy versus the V6, which is a positive sign for day-to-day ownership. Even so, the broader ownership picture still includes middling efficiency and poor value for money, so long-term used-buyer risk is more about running costs and overall value than outright mechanical promise.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lower trims are expected to have cloth upholstery, while higher trims move to leatherette and then genuine leather. You’ll also want to check whether the vehicle has the larger touchscreen and the available sunroof equipment, since those features are concentrated higher up the range.
• Powertrain: The base Laredo and Laredo X are expected to use the Pentastar 3.6-litre V6, while other trims get the Hurricane 4 Turbo. Both engines use an eight-speed automatic and standard 4WD in Canada. The Hurricane is the stronger engine choice, with 324 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque.
• Safety package: Standard equipment is expected to include adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors. Active Drive Assist is available, but it is not standard.
• Infotainment: Lower trims continue with a 10.2-inch touchscreen, while a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen is available on higher trims. All trims have a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included.
• Fuel efficiency: Jeep expects the Hurricane four-cylinder to return fuel economy as low as 8.7 litres per 100 kilometres combined, versus 10.9 litres per 100 kilometres combined for the V6.

Which 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in 7 trim levels: Laredo, Laredo X, Altitude, Limited, 85th Anniversary, Limited Reserve, and Summit.

Here’s the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point, and it should suit you if you want the Grand Cherokee’s core capability without paying for the upper-end equipment. It’s also the trim most likely to keep the price in check.
• Laredo X: Choose this if you want a step up from the base model while staying near the bottom of the range. It should appeal if you want a little more equipment without moving too far up the price ladder.
• Altitude: This trim is a better fit if you want a more upscale feel than the base models, with the expected move to leatherette helping it feel more polished.
• Limited: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it should balance equipment and price well, while also moving you into a more premium-feeling cabin.
• 85th Anniversary: Pick this if you want a commemorative trim with a more distinctive position in the lineup and the same general upscale direction as the mid-range models.
• Limited Reserve: This is the trim to target if you want a more luxurious setup without going all the way to the top. It should be a strong choice for shoppers who care about comfort and equipment.
• Summit: Go here if you want the most luxurious Grand Cherokee experience, including the highest-end audio and the most advanced 4WD hardware expected in the range.

The safety package should include adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors.

Is the 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee safe?

The 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee does not yet have current crash-test ratings published for this model year. The similar 2025 model earned five-star ratings from NHTSA overall, with five stars in front and side crash tests and four stars in the rollover evaluation. The 2025 model was also an IIHS 2024 Top Safety Pick, with top “Good” scores in the small overlap front and updated side crash tests and a “Marginal” score for seat belt reminders.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

You should expect standard driver-assistance features to include adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors. Active Drive Assist is available, but it is not standard. The main caveat is that the IIHS seat belt reminder result was only “Marginal,” which is worth keeping in mind if safety is a top priority.

Should I buy a 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

• 25.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• The 2026 model adds a new turbocharged four-cylinder engine and updated styling, while also dropping the 4xe plug-in hybrid powertrain.

The bottom line: If you want the newest Grand Cherokee with the updated engine and refreshed look, the 2026 is the one to target. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may make more sense, especially if you want to compare against used examples that still offer the plug-in hybrid powertrain.
