CarGurus Analysis: 2026 Ford Mustang
Summary
- With 140 currently listed for sale and an average price of $58,491 CAD, 31.4% of 2026 Ford Mustang listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Why it stands out
The 2026 Ford Mustang stands out because it continues one of Detroit’s most enduring nameplates while keeping the familiar front-engine, rear-wheel drive formula that has defined the car for generations. It is sold in coupe and convertible body styles, and Ford’s current Mustang line-up spans everything from the EcoBoost turbocharged 2.3-litre inline four-cylinder engine to 5.0-litre V8 power, with a very limited-run GTD using a 5.2-litre supercharged V8. A 10-speed automatic is the most common transmission, although some trims are available with six-speed manuals. At launch, the seventh-generation Mustang was offered in five trim levels in Canada: EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium, Ford Mustang GT, GT Premium, and Mustang Dark Horse.
For buyers, the appeal is straightforward: the 2026 Ford Mustang offers a wide spread of performance choices in a car that remains recognisably a Mustang. That breadth is part of its charm, but it also means there is variation in ownership experience depending on trim and engine. The available EcoBoost engine may deliver good fuel economy, but it requires premium fuel. Used shoppers should also be aware that 2024 and 2025 Ford Mustangs have been reported to suffer from powertrain vibrations, inconsistent interior build quality, limited-slip differential problems, and issues with the electronic stability control system. As a result, a well-sorted example with warranty repairs already completed is likely to be the most reassuring choice.

Is the 2026 Ford Mustang a good car?
The 2026 Ford Mustang is a good choice if you want a recognisably Mustang driving experience with a wide spread of performance options, from the EcoBoost turbocharged 2.3-litre engine to V8 power, plus coupe and convertible body styles. It keeps the familiar front-engine, rear-wheel drive formula that has defined the nameplate for generations, so you get the classic layout that many shoppers are looking for in a sports car.
That breadth is also part of the trade-off: ownership experience can vary quite a bit depending on the trim and engine you choose. The EcoBoost can deliver good fuel economy, but it requires premium fuel. For used shoppers, a well-sorted example with warranty repairs already completed is the safest bet.
With 30.7% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop carefully.
Is the 2026 Ford Mustang reliable?
The 2026 Ford Mustang is best approached as a car where condition and prior repairs matter a lot. It offers the familiar Mustang formula and a broad range of trims and engines, but used shoppers should pay close attention to how the car has been maintained and whether any warranty work has already been completed.
For long-term ownership, the main risk is buying a poorly sorted example and inheriting repair work that should already have been addressed.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Ford Mustang?
This is a moderate market for buyers, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a standout bargain.
- Deal availability: 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 140 listings available.
Should I buy a 2026 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?

- 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
The bottom line:
The 2026 is the right path if you want the current Mustang formula and are willing to shop carefully for a well-maintained example. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby model year may give you more room to compare prices and condition before you commit.
