New & Used 2026 Chevrolet Trax for Sale nearSaint John, NB

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Trax a good car?

The 2026 Chevrolet Trax earns 7.67/10 from our experts. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

It fits a clear role in Chevrolet’s Canadian lineup as the brand’s cheapest new car, and that makes it a practical alternative to compact sedans, hatchbacks, and entry-level crossover SUVs. The Trax is also styled to feel more upscale than a bare-bones budget runabout, with strong handling and impressive technology helping it stand out.

The main trade-offs are that all-wheel drive is not available and the ergonomic design is a weakness. Even so, the Trax’s mix of affordability, everyday usefulness, and city-friendly size makes it a sensible choice if you want value without giving up modern features.

With 34.6% of listings priced as good or great deals, there is a decent amount of market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Trax reliable?

The 2026 Chevrolet Trax is positioned as a simple, low-cost model with a conventional 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine and a six-speed automatic transmission, and the expert review says the engine does not feel overstressed or show discernible turbo lag. It also notes that the Trax’s chassis is well tuned and that the ride is competent enough for daily use.

Chevrolet’s three-year, 60,000-kilometre bumper-to-bumper limited warranty and five-year, 100,000-kilometre powertrain limited warranty help support ownership confidence. The Trax also comes with a maintenance-friendly ownership setup for a mainstream small SUV, but the lack of solid crash-test results is still a reminder that long-term ownership risk is more about safety confidence than mechanical complexity.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Chevrolet Trax?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 2026 Trax lineup in Canada drops the base LS trim, leaving the 1RS, LT, 2RS, and Activ trim levels. The 1RS is the most basic version, with cloth upholstery and the smaller screen setup, while higher trims add more upscale interior materials and larger wheels. Activ models get black-painted 18-inch wheels, a black grille with chrome accents, and unique bumpers, while RS models add black Chevrolet Bowtie badges and RS callouts.
• Powertrain: Every Trax uses a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. Output is 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, and there is no all-wheel-drive option.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assist features include automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, automatic high beams, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear park assist, and a following distance indicator. Adaptive cruise control is available on higher trim levels.
• Infotainment: The 1RS gets an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto plus a four-speaker audio system. Higher trims upgrade to an 11-inch touchscreen, an all-digital 8-inch instrument cluster, and a six-speaker sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Trax is rated at 8.1 litres per 100 kilometres combined, with 8.5 L/100 km in city driving and 7.6 L/100 km on the highway.

Which 2026 Chevrolet Trax trim should I buy?

The 2026 Chevrolet Trax is offered in 4 trim levels: 1RS, LT, 2RS, and Activ.

Here's the short version:

• 1RS: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Trax’s core value proposition with the standard turbo engine, wireless smartphone integration, and the full safety feature set. It is the trim to consider if you want the lowest price and can live with the smaller 8-inch screen and simpler cabin.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the larger 11-inch touchscreen, the digital instrument cluster, and a more polished interior without moving too far up the price ladder. If you want the Trax’s tech strengths to feel fully realised, this is the one to target.
• 2RS: Choose this if you want the sportier RS look and the upgraded cabin presentation, along with the larger-screen tech package. It makes sense if style matters more to you than absolute value.
• Activ: Pick this if you prefer the more rugged visual treatment, blacked-out exterior details, and the unique wheel and bumper design. It is the right choice if you want the most distinctive appearance in the lineup.

Adaptive cruise control is available on higher trim levels, so check the exact equipment list on any used example you’re considering.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Chevrolet Trax?

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Trax safe?

The 2026 Chevrolet Trax earns a Poor rating in the IIHS updated moderate overlap front crash test, while also earning a Good rating in the small overlap front test. It had not received NHTSA ratings at the time of the review.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assist features include automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, automatic high beams, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear park assist, and a following distance indicator. Adaptive cruise control is available on higher trim levels.

The main caveat is that the available crash-test results are mixed, and the poor moderate-overlap result is the key concern for used buyers who prioritise safety.

Should I buy a 2026 Chevrolet Trax or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

• 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• The 2026 Trax keeps the same core formula as the current-generation model, with only two new exterior colour options for this year.

The bottom line:

If you want the Trax’s current design, strong tech, and value-focused packaging, the 2026 model is the straightforward choice. If you are shopping mainly on price, a nearby model year may be worth considering, especially if you can find a better deal on similar equipment.
