New & Used 2026 Chevrolet Trax for Sale nearSaint-François-de-Madawaska, NB

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Trax a good car?

The 2026 Chevrolet Trax earns an 7.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

It fits a useful role in Chevrolet’s Canadian lineup as the brand’s cheapest new vehicle, and it’s aimed at shoppers who want compact-car affordability with crossover practicality. The Trax is described as stylish, pleasant to drive, and impressively equipped for the money, which helps it feel more polished than a bare-bones budget runabout.

The main trade-offs are clear: all-wheel drive is not available, and advanced safety features are not standard. It also has a poor ergonomic design, which can make some controls awkward to use.

With 33.7% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market gives you a decent chance to find value if you shop carefully.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Trax reliable?

The 2026 Chevrolet Trax is presented as a simple, low-complexity small crossover with a single engine, a conventional automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive, which helps keep the ownership picture straightforward. Its turbocharged 1.2-litre engine is described as not feeling overstressed, staying on boost well, and avoiding noticeable turbo lag.

Chevrolet also backs it with a three-year, 60,000-kilometre bumper-to-bumper limited warranty and a five-year, 100,000-kilometre powertrain limited warranty, which gives you a reasonable safety net early in ownership.

The main long-term risk for used buyers is that the Trax’s value proposition depends on accepting its economy-car compromises, so you should pay close attention to condition and maintenance history before committing.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Chevrolet Trax?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 1RS base model is the most stripped-back version, with an 8-inch touchscreen, a four-speaker audio system, cloth upholstery, and fewer convenience features than higher trims. The LT, 2RS, and Activ add larger screens and smarter interior trim, while Activ models also get black-painted 18-inch wheels, a black grille with chrome accents, and unique bumpers, and RS models add black Chevy Bowtie badges and RS callouts.
• Powertrain: Every Trax uses a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. It makes 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, and there is no all-wheel-drive option.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assist features include automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, automatic high beams, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear park assist, and a following distance indicator. Adaptive cruise control is available on higher trim levels.
• Infotainment: The 1RS gets an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while higher trims upgrade to an 11-inch touchscreen, an all-digital 8-inch instrument cluster, and a six-speaker sound system. Rear-seat USB charging ports are standard on all but the 1RS.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates the Trax at 8.1 L/100 km combined, with 8.5 L/100 km city and 7.6 L/100 km highway.

Which 2026 Chevrolet Trax trim should I buy?

The 2026 Chevrolet Trax is offered in 4 trim levels: 1RS, LT, 2RS, and Activ.

Here's the short version:

• 1RS: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry price and can live with the simpler cabin. You still get the core Trax formula, including the 8-inch touchscreen and wireless smartphone integration, but you miss out on the larger display and richer interior presentation found higher up the range.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the 11-inch touchscreen, the digital instrument cluster, and a more polished interior without jumping to the more style-focused versions. If you want the Trax’s tech strengths without paying for appearance extras, this is the one to target.
• 2RS: Choose this if you want the sportier RS look and the upgraded cabin presentation. It builds on the LT’s equipment with the RS treatment and is aimed at buyers who care more about style than absolute value.
• Activ: Pick this if you prefer the more rugged-looking trim with its unique wheels, grille, and bumper treatment. It’s the most distinctive Trax if you want the model with the strongest visual personality.

Adaptive cruise control is available on higher trim levels, so check equipment carefully if that feature matters to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Chevrolet Trax?

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Trax safe?

The 2026 Chevrolet Trax earns the lowest Poor rating in the IIHS updated moderate overlap front crash test, while also earning a Good rating in the small overlap front test.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assist features include automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, automatic high beams, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear park assist, and a following distance indicator. Adaptive cruise control is available on higher trim levels.

Chevrolet also includes its Teen Driver monitoring system, which activates available safety features and lets parents monitor teen driving behaviour.

The main caution is that the crash-test picture is incomplete and the results that are available are not especially reassuring, so you should treat safety as a key consideration when shopping used.

Should I buy a 2026 Chevrolet Trax or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

• Choose the 2026 if: 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Choose the 2026 if: The year’s update is limited to two new exterior colour options, while the core formula stays focused on affordability, useful tech, and everyday practicality.

The bottom line:

If you want the current Trax formula with its strong tech, compact footprint, and value-focused positioning, the 2026 is the straightforward choice. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby model years for a lower asking price, since the 2026 changes are minimal.
