New & Used 2026 Acura MDX for Sale nearNewcastle, ON

Is the 2026 Acura MDX a good car?

The 2026 Acura MDX earns 7.67/10 from our experts. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

It is a sporty-looking, comfortable, and reliable three-row crossover SUV that is aimed squarely at paved-road use. You get a quiet, quality feel, good utility, and easy-to-use technology, which makes it a strong fit if you want a refined family crossover with a more engaging look and demeanour.

The trade-offs are clear: the third row is cramped, fuel economy is poor, and there is no hybrid option. Even so, the MDX remains a compelling value play versus other midsize three-row rivals, and 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2026 Acura MDX reliable?

The 2026 Acura MDX is described as reliable, and its powertrain is presented as responsive, quick to accelerate, and well behaved in daily driving. The cabin and controls are also set up for straightforward use, which supports an ownership experience that should feel familiar rather than fussy.

Acura’s focus on paved-road comfort and handling, plus the model’s quiet, solid feel, points to a vehicle that should be easy to live with over time. The lack of a hybrid option does not affect dependability directly, but it does mean you are buying into a conventional gasoline setup for the long haul.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Acura MDX?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Tech, A-Spec, Platinum Elite A-Spec, and Type S Ultra trims differ most in styling, comfort, and equipment. The base trim gets the core MDX formula, while higher trims add features such as a head-up display and more upscale cabin treatment.
• Powertrain: Most models use a 3.5-litre V6 with 290 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque, while the Type S Ultra upgrades to a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 with 355 hp and 354 lb-ft. All models use a 10-speed automatic, and the standard setup includes SH-AWD.
• Safety package: AcuraWatch includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, lane centring assist, and adaptive cruise control with traffic-jam assist. Blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high-beam headlights, and parking sensors with low-speed braking are also standard, while more expensive variants offer a surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: You get a 12.3-inch digital instrument display and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, Amazon Alexa Built-in, and Google Built-in are included, and the system is a major improvement over Acura’s older touchpad setup.
• Fuel efficiency: The official Natural Resources Canada estimate is 11.2 litres per 100 kilometres combined, or 12.4 L/100 km for the Type S Ultra.

Which 2026 Acura MDX trim should I buy?

The 2026 Acura MDX is offered in 4 trim levels: Tech, A-Spec, Platinum Elite A-Spec, and Type S Ultra.

Here's the short version:

• Tech: This is the entry point to the MDX lineup, and it gives you the core luxury-SUV experience with standard AWD, AcuraWatch, and the full-size tech suite. It makes the most sense if you want the MDX’s fundamentals without paying for extras you may not need.
• A-Spec: This trim adds a sportier appearance and a more distinctive look, making it a good choice if style matters to you. It is the trim to consider if you want more visual flair without jumping to the pricier upper models.
• Platinum Elite A-Spec: This is the best-value trim if you want the richest mix of comfort, style, and technology. It adds the head-up display and more upscale cabin treatment, and it is the version that best matches the MDX’s premium feel.
• Type S Ultra: Choose this if you want the most powerful MDX and the most performance-focused setup. It swaps in the twin-turbo V6 and adds adaptive air suspension, making it the right pick if you care most about stronger acceleration and the most advanced hardware.

All models include AcuraWatch, while more expensive variants offer a surround-view camera system.

Is the 2026 Acura MDX safe?

The 2026 Acura MDX has incomplete crash-test coverage for this model year. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration rates only the FWD models not sold in Canada, which earn an overall five-star rating. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not published ratings for the 2026 MDX, but the nearly identical 2025 model was an IIHS Top Safety Pick.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

AcuraWatch bundles the MDX’s driver aids, including forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, lane centring assist, and adaptive cruise control with traffic-jam assist. Blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high-beam headlights, and parking sensors with low-speed braking are standard as well.

A surround-view camera system is available on more expensive variants. One caveat is that the lane departure warning can trigger steering wheel wobble, and lane centring assist can cycle on and off on winding roads.

Should I buy a 2026 Acura MDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

• Choose the 2026 if: 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Choose the 2026 if: It keeps the refreshed MDX formula, with strong value, easy-to-use tech, and a reliable, comfortable on-road focus.
• Consider the 2025 if: It offers a refreshed, more appealing take on the MDX with simpler controls and a strong overall package.

The bottom line: If you want the latest version of the MDX’s proven formula, the 2026 is the cleaner choice. If you are shopping with price sensitivity in mind, the 2025 is worth a close look because it delivers much of the same appeal and may be the better-value buy.
