How much does the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan cost?

Is the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan a good car?

The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan earns a 6/10 expert rating.

The model scores 6/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

It is a redesigned compact SUV that gets the fundamentals right, with a German look and feel and a cabin that should be easier to live with day to day. It is best suited to you if you want a handsome, refined crossover with a premium-leaning character and can accept that it is more competent than distinctive.

Trade-offs: It does not separate itself much from the crowded compact SUV field, and it is held back by not much cargo space.

There are 34.7% of listings priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan reliable?

The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan is presented as a comprehensive improvement over its predecessor, with a quieter cabin and a drivetrain that delivers power more smoothly and linearly than before.

Its 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine is described as adequate for most drivers, and the suspension is tuned to favour comfort while still keeping the SUV composed. The cabin is also noted for reduced wind and road noise, which supports an easy day-to-day ownership experience.

Volkswagen’s updated interface should also reduce frustration compared with the last generation, which matters for long-term satisfaction. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is that it remains a compact SUV with limited cargo space, so it may not fully meet your needs if practicality is your top priority.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim comes very well equipped, while the top trim adds an illuminated VW badge and light bar, a 15-inch display, a head-up display, a surround-view camera system, and a traffic sign reader.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 201 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard 4Motion all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, safe passenger exit warnings, parking sensors, automatic high beams, Emergency Assist, and post-collision braking. The top trim adds a head-up display, surround-view camera system, and a traffic sign reader.
• Infotainment: All trims get a 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, a digital instrument panel, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a wireless phone charger. The top trim upgrades to a 15-inch display with native navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates fuel consumption at 10.5 L/100 km in city driving, 7.8 L/100 km on the highway, and 9.3 L/100 km combined.

Which 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan trim should I buy?

The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan is offered in 4 trim levels: Trendline, Comfortline, Comfortline R-Line, Highline R-Line.

Here's the short version:

• Trendline: This is the best-value choice if you want the Tiguan’s core strengths without paying for extras. It comes very well equipped, and the standard safety and tech features already cover most needs.
• Comfortline: This is the sensible step up if you want a little more equipment without moving too far up the price ladder. It keeps the Tiguan’s character intact while adding some niceties.
• Comfortline R-Line: This trim adds the R-Line sport appearance package, so it is the one to choose if styling matters more to you than value.
• Highline R-Line: This is the most feature-rich version, with the 15-inch display, native navigation, head-up display, surround-view camera system, and traffic sign reader.

The standard safety package is strong across the range, while the top trim adds extra driver-assistance and visibility features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 836 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.61% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $40,051 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan's resale value?

The current average of $40,051 CAD sits slightly below last year's $44,803 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Tiguan has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means sellers may face more competition than they did a year ago. If you own one, pricing it aggressively will matter if you want to stand out. For future resale, the Tiguan’s broad appeal should help, but its value will still depend on how well it holds up against newer, better-equipped rivals.

Is the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan safe?

The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard advanced safety features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, safe passenger exit warnings, parking sensors, automatic high beams, Emergency Assist, and post-collision braking.

Stepping up to the Highline R-Line adds a head-up display, surround-view camera system, and a traffic sign reader.

As of this writing, crash test results are not yet available from either NHTSA or IIHS, so you should focus on the standard driver-assistance package and trim-level upgrades when comparing used examples.

Should I buy a 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.61% compared with last year.
• It corrects the last generation’s user interface issues while adding a more polished cabin experience.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $29,538 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $40,051 CAD average.
• It offers value-focused upgrades and premium looks.

The bottom line: Choose the 2025 if you want the redesigned cabin, improved usability, and a more refined overall package. If your priority is saving money, the 2024 is the better value play and still brings strong everyday appeal.
