How much does the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan cost?

Is the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan a good car?

The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan earns a 6/10 from our experts.

The model scores 6/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

It suits you best if you want a compact SUV that feels polished, comfortable, and easy to live with every day. The redesigned cabin fixes earlier interface frustrations, and the Tiguan’s quiet ride and broad appeal help it stand out without trying too hard.

The main trade-offs are that it does not separate itself much from the segment and it has limited cargo space.

There are 35.8% of listings priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan reliable?

The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan is presented as a comprehensive improvement over its predecessor, with a drivetrain that delivers power more smoothly and linearly than before.

Its comfort-focused suspension and quiet cabin suggest a relaxed ownership experience, and the updated interface should make day-to-day use easier. The expert review also notes that the vehicle’s safety and driver-assist features worked as intended during testing, without false alarms or oversensitivity.

The Tiguan’s fuel economy is rated at 10.5 litres per 100 kilometres in city driving, 7.8 on the highway, and 9.3 combined, which gives you a clear baseline for running costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that it is still a newly redesigned model, so you should be especially attentive to early ownership history and maintenance records.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Trendline comes well equipped, while the Highline R-Line adds a head-up display, surround-view camera system, and a traffic sign reader. The base trim is the one most likely to leave you without those extra conveniences.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 201 horsepower and an eight-speed automatic transmission. In Canada, 4Motion all-wheel drive is standard, and the setup is tuned more for smooth, confident everyday driving than sporty acceleration.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, safe passenger exit warnings, parking sensors, automatic high beams, Emergency Assist, and post-collision braking. The Highline R-Line adds a head-up display, surround-view camera system, and a traffic sign reader.
• Infotainment: All trims get a 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, a digital instrument panel, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a wireless phone charger. The top trim adds a 15-inch display with native navigation, and VW’s Car-Net system is also offered.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates fuel economy at 10.5 litres per 100 kilometres in city driving, 7.8 on the highway, and 9.3 combined.

Which 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan trim should I buy?

The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan is offered in 4 trim levels: Trendline, Comfortline, Comfortline R-Line, Highline R-Line.

Here's the short version:

• Trendline: This is the best-value choice if you want the Tiguan’s core strengths without paying for extras that do not change its character much. It already comes very well equipped, including the standard digital instrument panel, 12.9-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, and the full safety suite.
• Comfortline: This is the sensible step-up if you want a little more equipment without jumping too far in price. It keeps the Tiguan’s comfort-first personality while adding some extra polish.
• Comfortline R-Line: This trim adds the sport appearance package, but the underlying driving character remains focused on comfort rather than performance.
• Highline R-Line: Choose this if you want the most features, including the 15-inch display, native navigation, head-up display, surround-view camera system, and traffic sign reader.

The standard safety package is strong across the range, while the Highline R-Line gets the most advanced convenience features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 871 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.44% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $39,284 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan's resale value?

The current average of $39,284 CAD sits slightly below last year's $45,384 CAD.

That price drop suggests the Tiguan has become more attractive for used buyers, but it also means sellers may need to be more realistic on asking price. If you own one, the current market points to softer resale conditions than a year ago. For future sellers, the upside is that a well-kept example with desirable equipment should still draw interest, especially if it is priced near the market average.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard advanced safety features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, safe passenger exit warnings, parking sensors, automatic high beams, Emergency Assist, and post-collision braking.

The Highline R-Line adds a head-up display, surround-view camera system, and a traffic sign reader. If you want the most complete safety and driver-assistance setup, that trim is the one to target.

Should I buy a 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.44% compared with last year.
• It corrects the last generation’s interface issues while adding a more polished cabin and quiet ride.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $29,503 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $39,284 CAD average.
• It offers value-focused upgrades and standard safety features.

The bottom line: Choose the 2025 if you want the more refined, redesigned Tiguan and are willing to pay more for it. If your priority is saving money, the 2024 is the smarter value play, especially if you want a premium look and standard safety equipment without stretching your budget.
