Is the 2025 Tesla Model Y a good car?

The 2025 Tesla Model Y stands out as a practical electric crossover that combines strong range, generous standard equipment, and a distinctly Tesla approach to packaging. It was designed around the Tesla Model 3 and shares 70% to 75% of its parts, but its taller body, rear hatch, and coupe-like SUV shape give it more space and versatility than the sedan it is based on.

For you, that means a used EV that leans into everyday usefulness: lots of cargo room, strong acceleration, and range that can top 500 kilometres. The 2025 refresh also adds a more modern appearance, retuned suspension, improved aerodynamics, more sound deadening, and upgraded interior materials, while standard equipment includes ambient lighting, an updated audio system with more speakers, Autopilot, heated seats in the front and rear, and a panoramic glass roof.

23.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Tesla Model Y reliable?

The 2025 Tesla Model Y stands out as a practical electric crossover that combines strong range, generous standard equipment, and a distinctly Tesla approach to packaging. It was designed around the Tesla Model 3 and shares 70% to 75% of its parts, but its taller body, rear hatch, and coupe-like SUV shape give it more space and versatility than the sedan it is based on.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Model Y’s touchscreen-heavy controls, firm ride, and missing smartphone integration may matter more over time than the headline range and feature list.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Tesla Model Y?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you know what price and condition you want.

• Deal availability: 23.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 80 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.49% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $49,940 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Tesla Model Y's resale value?

The current average of $53,237 CAD sits slightly below last year's $56,331 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable level today, but it also means future resale may depend heavily on how well the market absorbs used EV inventory. If prices continue to ease, you may see more competition when it comes time to sell. A well-priced, well-kept example should still appeal to shoppers who want range, space, and a feature-rich electric crossover.

Should I buy a 2025 Tesla Model Y or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 23.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.49% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2025 Model Y makes the most sense if you want the refreshed look, strong standard equipment, and a used EV with broad everyday appeal. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby model year may be the better path, especially if you can find a lower-priced example with the features you want.
