Used 2025 Subaru Outback for Sale nearHamilton, ON

How much does the 2025 Subaru Outback cost?

Prices have softened 15.04% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 241 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Subaru Outback a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Subaru Outback earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

It stands out as a rugged wagon in a market full of look-alike crossovers, and its long-roof shape gives you a practical alternative if you want something less generic. The ride quality is a major plus, and standard all-wheel drive adds confidence for everyday driving and rougher weather. The trade-offs are the underwhelming base engine and sluggish touchscreen response.

With 32.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Subaru Outback reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Outback’s appeal is built around practicality, value, standard all-wheel drive, and strong safety ratings, which are all traits that usually matter in long-term ownership. Its smooth road manners and comfortable suspension also support an easygoing ownership experience. The powertrain is described as competent overall, though the base engine is underwhelming and the CVT can be slow to respond at times.

If you plan to keep one for the long haul, the main used-buyer risk is choosing a trim or engine that feels too modest for your needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Subaru Outback?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Convenience and Touring trims use cloth upholstery and 17-inch wheels, while Onyx and Wilderness models get StarTex synthetic leather and heated outboard rear seats. All trims but Convenience get a power moonroof and the 11.6-inch infotainment system, while Limited and Premier add DriverFocus, built-in navigation, and leather upholstery.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.5-litre four-cylinder makes 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque, while XT and Wilderness models use a turbocharged 2.4-litre engine with 260 hp and 277 lb-ft. Both use regular unleaded gas and a CVT with standard all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Subaru’s EyeSight driver-assist technology is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with lane centring, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency steering. Touring and higher trims also add blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: Most trims get a portrait-oriented 11.6-inch touchscreen, while the base model uses twin 7-inch displays. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, wireless unless you have the base model’s twin 7-inch displays.
• Fuel efficiency: The base 2.5-litre model is rated at 9.2 L/100 km city, 7.3 highway, and 8.3 combined. Turbocharged XT models rise to 10.6 city, 8.1 highway, and 9.5 combined, while the Wilderness model is rated at 11.0 city, 9.0 highway, and 10.1 combined.

Which 2025 Subaru Outback trim should I buy?

The 2025 Subaru Outback is offered in 5 trim levels: Convenience, Touring, Onyx, Limited, and Premier XT.

Here's the short version:

• Convenience: This is the entry point if you want the Outback’s wagon shape, standard all-wheel drive, and core safety tech at the lowest cost. It is also the only trim that keeps the twin 7-inch displays instead of the larger 11.6-inch screen, so it makes the most sense if value matters more than features.
• Touring: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the larger infotainment setup and more everyday comfort without jumping into luxury pricing. It also unlocks the blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert package mentioned in the safety content.
• Onyx: Choose this if you want the easier-to-clean StarTex synthetic leather and the more rugged-feeling presentation. It also gets heated outboard rear seats and the larger infotainment system.
• Limited: This is the step up if you want leather upholstery, built-in navigation, and DriverFocus. It suits you if you want a more upscale cabin without going all the way to the top trim.
• Premier XT: This is the most premium choice here, and it adds the turbocharged engine, Nappa leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, and the strongest feature set in the lineup.

Touring and higher trims also add blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Subaru Outback?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 241 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.04% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $40,033 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Subaru Outback's resale value?

The current average of $40,033 CAD sits slightly below last year's $47,118 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer now, but it also means a future seller may face more competition if the market stays loose. The Outback’s distinctive wagon shape and strong safety reputation should help it stand out, especially with shoppers who want something practical but not generic. Still, the current trend suggests you should expect resale to depend heavily on trim, condition, and mileage.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Subaru Outback safe?

The 2025 Outback received the top five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and the 2024 Outback earned a Top Safety Pick designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Subaru’s EyeSight driver-assist technology is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with lane centring, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency steering. Touring and higher trims also add blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert.

One caveat is that the lane-centring system can feel a bit busy, with more side-to-side movement than ideal.

Should I buy a 2025 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.04% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It may be your last chance to buy the current wagon-shaped Outback before the redesign.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $34,864 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $40,033 CAD average.
• It keeps the raised wagon shape and broad trim range.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It moves to an SUV-like redesign with more feature enhancements.
• It is described as impressive off-road and comfortable on pavement.

The bottom line: If you want the current Outback’s distinctive wagon character, the 2025 is the one to target now. If price matters most, the 2024 is the smarter value play. If you want the newer redesign and can wait, the 2026 is the more modern direction.
