Why it stands out

The 2025 Subaru Impreza stands out as a compact car that keeps Subaru’s core formula intact while moving it further into the mainstream. It remains a value-oriented entry into the brand, and Subaru’s standard all-wheel drive continues to be one of its defining advantages. The Impreza’s reputation for strong owner satisfaction and solid resale value also helps make it appealing to used-car shoppers who want a practical hatchback with broad appeal.

For this generation, the Impreza is available only as a five-door hatchback, and the manual transmission is gone. Subaru also gave it a more rigid body structure, more technology, and the return of an RS trim. The standard Convenience model includes cloth upholstery, 16-inch wheels, dual-zone climate control, steering-responsive LED headlights, heated front seats, dual 7-inch touchscreens, and Subaru Starlink Multimedia with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Touring trim adds a vertical 11.6-inch Multimedia Plus system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and paddle shifters. The RS brings the more powerful 182-hp 2.5-litre boxer engine, plus 18-inch wheels, a power sunroof, a wireless phone charger, and a 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.

There are trade-offs, though. The Impreza’s cabin materials can feel cheap, cargo space is limited, and the styling is described as uninspired. Even so, its standard all-wheel drive, comfortable ride, and useful mix of safety and technology features make the 2025 Subaru Impreza a sensible choice for buyers who want a compact car with extra traction and everyday practicality.
