Used 2025 Subaru Forester for Sale nearOshawa, ON

How much does the 2025 Subaru Forester cost?

Prices have softened 9.36% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 462 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2025 Subaru Forester a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Subaru Forester earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

It builds on a familiar formula with a better-equipped base model, more advanced tech and safety offerings, and a quieter cabin. That makes it a strong fit if you want a practical compact crossover that feels secure and easy to live with, especially if you value standard all-wheel drive and confident handling in adverse conditions.

The main trade-offs are generic styling and dated infotainment graphics, and there’s no hybrid option available. Even so, the Forester’s useful, well-rounded character remains the point.

32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Subaru Forester reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2025 Forester is built around a familiar, proven formula rather than a risky redesign, and Subaru has added refinement without abandoning the model’s core strengths. The quieter cabin, standard all-wheel drive, and improved safety tech all support the impression of a vehicle designed for steady, everyday use.

Its 2.5-litre Boxer four-cylinder, CVT, and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive are standard, and Subaru’s X-Mode system with Hill Descent Control is also included in Canada. That points to a powertrain and traction setup aimed at dependable all-weather use rather than complexity.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the model’s appeal depends more on practicality than excitement, so you should prioritise condition and maintenance history over cosmetic appeal.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Subaru Forester?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Forester is more basic, with cloth upholstery, two 7-inch touchscreens, and wired smartphone projection, while higher trims add more premium materials and equipment. The Sport brings StarTex seating and bronze accents, Limited adds leather seating surfaces, and Premier adds the most upscale presentation.
• Powertrain: Every 2025 Forester uses a 2.5-litre Boxer four-cylinder with 180 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque, paired with Subaru’s CVT and standard Symmetrical AWD. Subaru’s X-Mode is standard in Canada, and the Sport and higher trims get a dual-function version.
• Safety package: Subaru’s EyeSight suite comes standard, with a wider field of view from a third standard camera that helps the system spot cyclists and pedestrians earlier. Blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane change assist arrive at the Touring grade, while Emergency Stop Assist is limited to Limited and Premier trims.
• Infotainment: The 11.6-inch Multimedia Plus system is standard on all but the base trim and includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The base model keeps two 7-inch touchscreens with wired smartphone projection, while Touring and up add more front USB ports and a wireless charging pad.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates the Forester at 9.1 L/100 km in the city, 7.2 L/100 km on the highway, and 8.2 L/100 km combined.

Which 2025 Subaru Forester trim should I buy?

The 2025 Subaru Forester is offered in 4 trim levels: Base, Sport, Limited, Premier.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the value play if you want the Forester’s core strengths at the lowest entry point, including standard all-wheel drive and the standard safety suite. You give up the larger infotainment system and some convenience upgrades, but it still covers the essentials well.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim if you want a more polished cabin and stronger visual differentiation, thanks to StarTex seating, bronze accents, and 19-inch wheels. It also gets the dual-function X-Mode setup and is a good fit if you want a more complete-feeling Forester without going all the way to the top trims.
• Limited: This trim adds leather seating surfaces, the larger infotainment system, navigation, and the driver-distraction-mitigation system that enables Emergency Stop Assist. It’s the right choice if you want a more premium daily driver with meaningful safety and tech upgrades.
• Premier: This is the most fully equipped Forester, with the top-end presentation, 19-inch wheels, low-profile roof rack, navigation, and the 11-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. Choose it if you want the most features and the most upscale cabin.

Emergency Stop Assist is only available on vehicles equipped with the driver distraction-mitigation system, which limits it to the Limited and Premier trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Subaru Forester?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 462 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.36% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $37,628 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Subaru Forester's resale value?

The current average of $37,628 CAD sits slightly below last year's $41,512 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer now, but it also means a future seller may need to be realistic about expectations if market conditions stay similar. The current trend suggests the Forester is not in a strong appreciation phase, so resale value will depend more on condition, trim desirability, and mileage than on broad market momentum.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Subaru Forester safe?

The 2025 Subaru Forester is too new as of this writing to have been crash-tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Subaru’s EyeSight suite comes standard, and for 2025 it gains a wider field of view from a third standard camera that helps the system spot cyclists and pedestrians earlier. A rear seat reminder system is also included, and an electric brake booster has been added.

Emergency Stop Assist is a notable available feature: when adaptive cruise control is active, it can try to regain the driver’s attention, slow the vehicle to a stop if needed, notify emergency services, activate the hazard lights, and unlock the doors. That feature is limited to vehicles equipped with the driver distraction-mitigation system, which means Limited and Premier trims.

Should I buy a 2025 Subaru Forester or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.36% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a quieter cabin, better base equipment, and more advanced safety tech.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It adds a rugged Wilderness focus with more off-road capability.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced buy right now, the 2025 is the safer choice because it combines softer pricing, solid inventory, and meaningful updates over the previous year. If your priority is rugged capability and you can wait for the next model year’s direction, the 2026 is the one to watch.
