Used 2025 Subaru Forester for Sale nearCambridge, ON

How much does the 2025 Subaru Forester cost?

Prices have softened 8.51% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 443 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Subaru Forester a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.5/5 model with an expert rating of 7.83/10. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

The 2025 Subaru Forester is a sensible, well-rounded compact crossover that focuses on usefulness rather than flash. It builds on a familiar formula with a better-equipped base model, more advanced tech and safety offerings, and a quieter cabin. Standard all-wheel drive remains a major advantage, and it’s described as handling confidently in adverse conditions.

The main trade-offs are generic styling, dated infotainment graphics, and the lack of a hybrid option. Even so, if you want a practical crossover that feels secure and easy to live with, the Forester’s strengths line up well with that use case.

32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Subaru Forester reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2025 Forester is presented as a refinement of a proven formula rather than a risky redesign, and that usually matters when you’re thinking about durability over time. Subaru also leans into the model’s practical, confidence-inspiring character with standard all-wheel drive and a quieter cabin for 2025, both of which support everyday usability.

Its 2.5-litre Boxer four-cylinder, standard CVT, and standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive are all part of a familiar mechanical setup, which can be reassuring for used buyers who prefer established hardware. Subaru’s added refinement for 2025 should help ownership feel more polished, but as with any used crossover, you’ll still want to verify maintenance history and make sure the vehicle has been cared for consistently.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Subaru Forester?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base model is the most stripped-back version, with cloth upholstery, two 7-inch touchscreens, and wired smartphone projection, while higher trims add more premium materials and equipment. Sport brings StarTex upholstery and bronze accents, Limited adds leather seating surfaces, and Premier sits at the top with the most upscale presentation.
• Powertrain: Every 2025 Forester uses a 2.5-litre Boxer four-cylinder engine with 180 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque, paired with Subaru’s Lineartonic CVT and standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. Subaru’s X-Mode is standard in Canada, and the Sport and higher trims get a dual-function version.
• Safety package: Subaru’s EyeSight suite comes standard, along with a rear seat reminder system, a wider field of view from a third standard camera, and an electric brake booster. Blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane change assist arrive at the Touring grade, while Emergency Stop Assist is limited to vehicles equipped with the driver distraction-mitigation system, essentially the Limited and Premier trims.
• Infotainment: The 11.6-inch Multimedia Plus system is standard on all but the base trim and includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The base model keeps two 7-inch touchscreens with wired smartphone projection, while Touring and up add dual front USB-A and USB-C ports plus a wireless charging pad.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates the Forester at 9.1 L/100 km in the city, 7.2 L/100 km on the highway, and 8.2 L/100 km combined.

Which 2025 Subaru Forester trim should I buy?

The 2025 Subaru Forester is offered in 4 trim levels: Base, Sport, Limited, Premier.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the value play if you want the Forester’s core strengths at the lowest entry point. You still get standard all-wheel drive, EyeSight, and the practical, function-first character that defines the model, but you give up the larger 11.6-inch infotainment system and some of the nicer cabin upgrades found higher up.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim if you want a more distinctive look and a better cabin experience without jumping to the top end. It adds StarTex upholstery, bronze exterior accents, 19-inch wheels, and the dual-function X-Mode setup, making it a strong middle-ground choice.
• Limited: This is the trim to target if you want a more premium-feeling Forester. It adds leather seating surfaces, the navigation system, and access to Emergency Stop Assist through the driver distraction-mitigation system, so it’s the better pick if you want more tech and safety content.
• Premier: This is the most upscale version, with the richest equipment list and the most premium presentation. It’s the right choice if you want the top trim’s added comfort and convenience features and don’t mind paying for them.

Safety-package note: blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane change assist start at the Touring grade, while Emergency Stop Assist is limited to Limited and Premier.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Subaru Forester?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 443 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.51% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $37,790 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Subaru Forester's resale value?

The current average of $37,790 CAD sits slightly below last year's $41,307 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more favourable for buyers, which can make it harder for future sellers to command top dollar immediately. If you own one now, the current trend points to a model that is still in demand, but not immune to broader price pressure.

The good news is that the Forester’s practical reputation, standard all-wheel drive, and strong safety focus should help it remain appealing to used shoppers. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintenance records complete, you’ll be in a better position when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Subaru Forester safe?

The 2025 Subaru Forester is too new to have been crash-tested by IIHS or NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Subaru’s EyeSight suite comes standard, and for 2025 it gains a wider field of view thanks to a third standard camera that can spot cyclists and pedestrians earlier. A rear seat reminder system is also standard, and Subaru adds an electric brake booster. Emergency Stop Assist is available on vehicles equipped with the driver distraction-mitigation system, which limits it to the Limited and Premier trims.

That means the Forester is well equipped for family use, but some of its more advanced safety hardware is trim-dependent, so you’ll want to check carefully if those features matter to you.

Should I buy a 2025 Subaru Forester or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.51% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a better-equipped base model, more advanced tech and safety offerings, and a quieter cabin.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It adds a rugged Wilderness focus with more off-road capability.

The bottom line: If you want the most balanced mix of price, equipment, and everyday usability, the 2025 is the smarter buy. If your priority is rugged capability and you’re willing to wait for the right version, the 2026 may be worth considering. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2025 remains the better value play, especially if you find one near the low end of the range.
