Is the 2025 RAM 1500 a good car?

Generally — with a 4/5 user rating and an 8.33/10 expert rating, the 2025 RAM 1500 looks like a strong choice if you want a full-size truck that feels more upscale than basic. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners repeatedly praise its sharp looks, smooth ride, powerful engine options, and quality finish. The overview also points to premium interior materials, a spacious cabin, and impressive off-road capability available stock.

The main trade-offs are that advanced safety features are not standard, and some shoppers may find the price steep. That said, the truck’s broader appeal comes from its mix of comfort, refinement, and capability, especially if you want a more premium-feeling pickup.

With 31.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some room to find value if you shop carefully.

The expert drive notes smooth, appropriately timed shifts from the eight-speed automatic, which supports the impression of a well-sorted powertrain. It also describes the truck as comfortable and refined, which usually matters in day-to-day ownership.

If you’re buying used, the main long-term risk is less about basic durability and more about choosing the right trim and equipment level so you get the features you expect.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 RAM 1500?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup ranges from the base Tradesman to the new Tungsten, and the biggest differences are in luxury and presentation. The base truck gets an 8.4-inch flush screen, while higher trims bring much richer materials, more distinctive interior treatments, and features like the walk-up animation on Tungsten and Limited. If you want the best-value mix of comfort and equipment, the mid-to-upper trims are where the truck’s upscale character really comes through.
• Powertrain: The base engine is the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6, while the upgrade is the 3.0-litre Hurricane twin-turbo inline-six in standard-output or high-output form. The standard-output version makes 420 horsepower and 468 lb-ft of torque, and the high-output version makes 540 horsepower and 521 lb-ft. Ram says the new engine architecture is more efficient, and the eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic is standard across the range.
• Safety package: The available Hands-Free Driving Assist system is Ram’s Level 2+ semi-autonomous setup, and it can change speeds, maintain distance, and keep the truck centred in its lane on approved roadways. Newly enhanced automatic emergency braking now includes evasive steering assist, but blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, traffic-sign recognition, and the surround-view camera are not standard.
• Infotainment: A 10.25-inch passenger screen becomes available starting with Laramie, and the truck can also be equipped with an 8.4-inch flush screen, a new 12-inch screen, and a massive 14.5-inch touchscreen running Uconnect 5. Wireless charging, a digital rearview mirror, a full-colour head-up display, and a 12.3-inch digital driver-information display are also available on higher trims.
• Fuel efficiency: Ram says the new engine architecture should deliver better fuel efficiency, even while towing, but no fuel-consumption figure is stated.

Which 2025 RAM 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2025 RAM 1500 is offered in 5 trim levels: Tradesman, Laramie, Rebel, Limited, Tungsten.

Here's the short version:

• Tradesman: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and a work-focused truck. You still get the updated cabin tech, including the 8.4-inch flush screen, but you give up much of the luxury and high-end presentation that define the upper trims.
• Laramie: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it unlocks more of the truck’s premium feel without jumping all the way to the top. It also brings the new 10.25-inch passenger screen, making it a strong choice if you want a more modern and upscale interior.
• Rebel: Choose this if you want the more rugged-looking trim with darker exterior details and the off-road-oriented character described in the test drive. It stands apart visually from the more luxury-focused trims.
• Limited: This is the step up if you want a more luxurious cabin and more of the high-end equipment without going all the way to Tungsten. It also gets the walk-up animation feature.
• Tungsten: This is the new top trim and the most luxurious version, with premium materials, exclusive interior colour treatment, and the most feature-rich presentation. It’s the one to buy if you want the most upscale RAM 1500 experience.

Advanced safety features are not standard, so check carefully that the trim you’re considering includes the driver-assistance equipment you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 RAM 1500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,207 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.61% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $63,167 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 RAM 1500's resale value?

The current average of $63,167 CAD sits slightly below last year's $69,885 CAD.

That softer pricing can be good news if you’re buying now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive resale environment if the market stays well supplied. A lower current average can help attract shoppers, yet it can also signal that buyers have more negotiating power than they did a year ago.

Even so, the truck’s strong owner satisfaction and premium reputation should help support demand over time. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 RAM 1500 safe?

The 2025 RAM 1500 earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ram’s available Hands-Free Driving Assist system is the headline safety feature here. It works on approved roadways, can manage speed, maintain following distance, and keep the truck centred in its lane without driver intervention, while also requiring the driver to signal before a lane change.

Newly enhanced automatic emergency braking now includes evasive steering assist, and Ram says the truck can detect a cyclist or motorcycle in the blind spot. That said, blind-spot monitoring is not standard, and neither are adaptive cruise control, traffic-sign recognition, or the surround-view camera.

The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, so you’ll want to verify equipment carefully on any used example.

Should I buy a 2025 RAM 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.61% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• Ram added a hands-free driver-assistance system and major tech upgrades this year.

Consider the 2026 if:

• The Hemi V8 returns as an option.

The bottom line: If you want the most modern version of this truck’s tech and a market that currently favours shoppers, the 2025 is the better pick. If engine character matters more to you than buying into the newest update, the 2026 may be worth a look. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2025’s softer pricing and decent inventory make it the smarter place to start.
