Is the 2025 Lexus RX Hybrid a good car?

The 2025 Lexus RX Hybrid earns a 6.5/10 expert rating, and it is described as worthy of consideration for buyers who value comfort and refinement over a more animated driving experience.

The model scores 7/10 across Performance, Cost effectiveness, and Technology.

It brings a plush ride, a quiet interior, premium materials, and impressive technology, while also offering hybrid, performance hybrid, and plug-in hybrid powertrain choices. The trade-offs are that its design may be polarising, it lacks dynamic communication, and its steering wheel controls can be distracting.

With 32.5% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer if you shop carefully.

Is the 2025 Lexus RX Hybrid reliable?

The 2025 Lexus RX Hybrid is framed as a model that benefits from Lexus’s long-standing reputation for reliability, and it pairs that with a quiet, comfortable driving experience.

Its hybrid system is backed by an eight-year/160,000-kilometre warranty, which adds reassurance for used buyers. The expert evaluation also describes the RX Hybrid as cost-effective, especially in RX 350h form, where lower price and better fuel economy strengthen the ownership case.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about living with the model’s quirks, including its distracting controls and some drivetrain or tech behaviour that may frustrate over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Lexus RX Hybrid?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The RX 350h is the base model and offers the broadest range of packages, while the RX 500h adds F Sport Performance-focused equipment and the RX 450h+ is available only with the Executive package. The base model is the one most likely to leave you wanting more equipment, so compare package content carefully.
• Powertrain: You can choose hybrid, performance hybrid, or plug-in hybrid powertrains. The RX 350h is the least powerful but most efficient, the RX 500h is the quickest and least fuel-efficient, and the RX 450h+ adds electric-only driving range before switching to hybrid operation.
• Safety package: Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 is standard and includes forward collision warning with intersection assist, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and Proactive Driving Assist. The surround-view camera is available and is especially worth seeking out.
• Infotainment: The RX 500h features a 14-inch touchscreen display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a cloud-based navigation system through Drive Connect. It also supports connected services and digital key functionality on the top model.
• Fuel efficiency: The RX 350h is rated at 6.5 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving, the RX 450h+ is rated at 6.7 L/100 km combined, and the RX 500h is rated at 8.6 L/100 km combined.

Which 2025 Lexus RX Hybrid trim should I buy?

The 2025 Lexus RX Hybrid is offered in 3 trim levels: RX 350h, RX 500h, RX 450h+.

Here's the short version:

• RX 350h: This is the best-value choice if you want the RX Hybrid’s core strengths without paying for the sportier or plug-in versions. It delivers the strongest efficiency in the lineup and is the trim most aligned with the model’s comfort-first character.
• RX 500h: Choose this if you want the quickest RX Hybrid and the most performance-focused hardware, including the sport-tuned suspension, performance brakes, rear-wheel steering, and Direct4 AWD system. It suits you best if straight-line pace matters more than fuel economy.
• RX 450h+: Pick this if you want the plug-in hybrid setup and the Executive package in one model. It is the right fit if you value electric-only driving capability and a more fully equipped luxury experience.

The surround-view camera is a worthwhile safety upgrade, and it should be standard on the more expensive versions.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Lexus RX Hybrid?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you should shop with a clear target and be ready to move when a strong listing appears.

• Deal availability: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 123 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 20.43% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $66,317 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Lexus RX Hybrid's resale value?

The current average of $66,317 CAD sits slightly below last year's $83,341 CAD.

That price movement suggests the RX Hybrid has become more accessible in the used market, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, though, the softer trend means you should expect more pressure on resale if market conditions stay similar. If you buy well now, you may reduce some of that downside by starting from a lower acquisition cost.

Is the 2025 Lexus RX Hybrid safe?

The 2025 Lexus RX Hybrid earns an overall safety rating of five stars from NHTSA, but the IIHS gives it a Poor rating for occupant protection in an updated moderate overlap frontal-impact test.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 is standard, and it includes forward collision warning with intersection assist, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and Proactive Driving Assist. Safety Connect is also included for up to ten years and adds automatic collision notification, SOS emergency assistance, and roadside assistance access.

The main caveat is the IIHS result, which is a meaningful concern if crash-test performance is a priority for you. The available surround-view camera is a useful upgrade, especially on higher trims.

Should I buy a 2025 Lexus RX Hybrid or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 20.43% compared with last year.
• It gives you a broad mix of hybrid, performance hybrid, and plug-in hybrid choices with strong comfort and refinement.

Consider the 2026 if:

• The RX 500h gets a more power-focused hybrid setup with stronger acceleration and better fuel economy.

The bottom line: If you want the better shopping conditions and the broadest range of used listings, the 2025 is the safer buy. If you are focused on the newest powertrain tuning and can wait for the next model year, the 2026 is the alternative to watch. For most used buyers, though, the 2025 offers the better balance of value and availability.
