Why it stands out

The 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid stands out as a roomy, well-equipped three-row SUV that brings a lot of standard content for the money. It uses a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with an electric hybrid motor and a six-speed automatic transmission, and in Canada, HTRAC all-wheel drive is standard. The hybrid setup is also notably efficient, with fuel consumption rated at 6.8 litres per 100 kilometres in the city, 6.9 on the highway, and 6.9 combined. For buyers who want a family SUV that balances practicality with lower running costs, that combination is a major part of its appeal.

The 2025 model also benefits from a strong list of standard equipment. The Preferred Hybrid includes 18-inch alloy wheels, a hands-free power liftgate, synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a curved display with a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and digital instrument panel, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Safety equipment is similarly generous, with forward collision avoidance assist with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, a blind spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, lane keep assist, a driver condition monitor, and a safe rear-passenger exit warning system. That said, the Santa Fe Hybrid is not trying to be sporty: it is described as slow to 100 km/h, and its driving character is composed rather than engaging.

There are also a few caveats to keep in mind. The Santa Fe Hybrid’s boxy styling and pixelated lights are polarising, and its ride and comfort-first tuning mean it is more about ease of use than excitement. Even so, for shoppers who value standard features, efficiency, and the added practicality of a three-row layout, the 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid offers a distinctive mix that sets it apart from many rivals.
