How much does the 2025 Hyundai Kona cost?

Prices have softened 13.94% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 700 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Kona a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Hyundai Kona earns a 4.8/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its modern design, tech features, and comfortable ride. They also highlight the wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and touchscreen radio, along with the Kona’s practical everyday usability. On the other hand, some owners note a lack of power for quicker acceleration and would like better interior materials.

That lines up with the broader use case: this is a small SUV aimed at shoppers who want a spacious, well-equipped, practical vehicle rather than a quick one. The market also shows 33.7% of listings as good or great deals, which supports the Kona’s value case.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Kona reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with owners repeatedly valuing its comfortable ride and well-rounded feature set. The expert assessment also frames the Kona as a solid, value-focused package that continues to deliver after its recent redesign.

Hyundai’s warranty coverage adds another layer of reassurance for used buyers, but you should still check service history carefully because long-term ownership confidence depends on how well the previous owner maintained the vehicle.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Hyundai Kona?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Essential, Preferred, and N Line trims differ most in appearance and equipment. The base trim is the most basic visually, while the N Line adds sportier styling, larger wheels, and more upscale cabin tech. If you want the best value, the Preferred with the Trend package stands out for adding useful convenience features without jumping all the way to the top trim.
• Powertrain: The Essential and Preferred use a 2.0-litre four-cylinder with 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque, paired with an IVT. The N Line upgrades to a turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder with 190 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque and an eight-speed automatic. The base setup is tuned more for efficiency than urgency.
• Safety package: Every Kona includes Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Following Assist, Blind-Spot Collision Warning, Rear Cross-traffic Collision Avoidance Assist, and Safe Exit Warning. Preferred adds enhanced Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with junction turning and door opening detection, while the N Line with the Ultimate package adds Highway Driving Assist and Blind Spot View Monitor.
• Infotainment: All trims get a 12.3-inch central touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay. The Preferred with the Trend package and the N Line add wireless smartphone charging and Hyundai’s digital key. The N Line with the Ultimate package adds built-in navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The FWD 2.0-litre engine is rated at 7.5 L/100 km combined, while AWD raises that figure by 1 L/100 km. The turbocharged N Line is rated at 9.0 L/100 km combined with AWD.

Which 2025 Hyundai Kona trim should I buy?

The 2025 Hyundai Kona is offered in 3 trim levels: Essential, Preferred, and N Line.

Here's the short version:

• Essential: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Kona’s core strengths: a 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, and a strong standard safety suite. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live without the extra convenience and visual upgrades.
• Preferred: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds more polish without pushing you into the highest price bracket. It also unlocks useful upgrades through the Trend package, including a power sunroof, digital key, leatherette upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, a wireless charging pad, and a proximity-activated power liftgate.
• N Line: Choose this if you want the most powerful gas engine, standard AWD, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a more upscale tech experience. It also opens the door to the Ultimate package, which adds features such as Bose audio, built-in navigation, Highway Driving Assist, Blind Spot View Monitor, and parking assistance tech.

Even the base Kona comes well equipped for safety, but the Preferred and N Line bring the most meaningful upgrades for everyday use.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Hyundai Kona?

The market looks moderately favourable if you’re a selective buyer.

• Deal availability: 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 700 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.94% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $29,864 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Hyundai Kona's resale value?

The current average of $29,864 CAD sits slightly below last year's $34,701 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Kona has become more accessible for used buyers, which can make it easier to sell if you price it competitively later. A softer market today may also mean future resale values depend more heavily on trim, condition, and equipment than on model-year freshness alone.

Well-equipped examples should hold broader appeal because shoppers tend to respond to the Kona’s strong feature content and practical packaging. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Kona safe?

The 2025 Hyundai Kona has been named a Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Following Assist, Blind-Spot Collision Warning, Rear Cross-traffic Collision Avoidance Assist, and Safe Exit Warning. Every trim also gets six airbags, electronic stability control, and a tire pressure monitoring system.

Higher trims add more advanced assistance features, including enhanced Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with junction turning and door opening detection on Preferred, plus Highway Driving Assist and Blind Spot View Monitor on the N Line with the Ultimate package. The base Kona is already well equipped, but some of the most advanced convenience and driver-assistance features remain trim dependent.

Should I buy a 2025 Hyundai Kona or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.94% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the second-generation Kona’s roomy, practical, and well-equipped formula intact.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $27,464 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $29,864 CAD average.
• It brings a fresh redesign, new technology, and a more modern feel.

The bottom line: If you want the newer model-year pricing trend and the current used-market inventory, the 2025 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2024 is the smarter value play and still delivers the Kona’s core strengths.
