How much does the 2025 Hyundai Kona cost?

Prices have softened 17.09% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 728 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Kona a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Hyundai Kona earns a 4.8/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its modern design, tech features, and comfortable ride. The wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and touchscreen radio come up repeatedly as highlights, and the cabin’s practicality also stands out. On the downside, some owners want more power for quicker acceleration and better interior materials.

That lines up with the expert view: the Kona is a practical, comfortable small SUV with a spacious cabin and generous cargo area, but it is not aimed at buyers chasing strong acceleration. Its design may also be polarising, so it suits you best if you value everyday usability and a well-rounded driving experience over flash.

With 32.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still decent market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Kona reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers describing the Kona as a vehicle they can count on for daily use. The expert assessment also supports that impression by highlighting Hyundai’s strong warranty coverage and the model’s overall value proposition.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about reliability and more about choosing the right trim and equipment level for your needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Hyundai Kona?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Essential, Preferred, and N Line trims build on each other with progressively more visual bling, larger wheels, and added convenience features. Base models get the simpler interior display setup and fewer comfort extras, while the Preferred with the Trend package adds a power sunroof, digital key, leatherette upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, a wireless charging pad, and a proximity-activated power liftgate. The N Line adds a sportier design and more upscale tech, but you should check whether the features you want are standard or tied to a package.
• Powertrain: The Essential and Preferred use a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder with 147 horsepower and an IVT, which prioritises fuel efficiency over outright performance. The N Line switches to a turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder with 190 horsepower and an eight-speed automatic, giving you stronger performance and a more conventional driving feel.
• Safety package: Every Kona includes Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Following Assist, Blind-Spot Collision Warning, Rear Cross-traffic Collision Avoidance Assist, and Safe Exit Warning. Preferred adds enhanced Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with junction turning and door opening detection, while the N Line with the Ultimate package adds Highway Driving Assist and Blind Spot View Monitor.
• Infotainment: All trims get a 12.3-inch central touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay. The Preferred with the Trend package and the N Line also add wireless smartphone charging and Hyundai’s digital key, while the N Line with the Ultimate package brings built-in navigation and a larger digital instrument cluster.
• Fuel efficiency: The FWD 2.0-litre base engine is rated at 7.5 L/100 km combined, while AWD raises that figure by 1.0 L/100 km. The turbocharged N Line is rated at 9.0 L/100 km combined with standard AWD.

Which 2025 Hyundai Kona trim should I buy?

The 2025 Hyundai Kona is offered in 3 trim levels: Essential, Preferred, and N Line.

Here's the short version:

• Essential: This is the value-focused starting point if you want the Kona’s spacious cabin, standard safety tech, and wireless smartphone integration without paying for extras you may not need. It makes sense if you want the lowest entry price and are comfortable with the simpler display setup and fewer convenience features.
• Preferred: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds meaningful comfort and convenience upgrades without jumping all the way to the top end. If you want the strongest balance of equipment and price, this is the one to target, especially with the Trend package.
• N Line: Choose this if you want the most powerful gas engine, the sportier appearance, and the richest tech content. It is the right pick if you care more about features and performance than keeping the purchase price down.

All Konas include a strong standard safety package, and the Preferred and N Line add more advanced driver-assistance features as you move up.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Hyundai Kona?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 728 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.09% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $29,180 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Hyundai Kona's resale value?

The current average of $29,180 CAD sits slightly below last year's $35,194 CAD.

That price drop suggests the Kona has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a softer market than owners saw a year ago. If you buy now, you are entering at a lower price point than recent sellers enjoyed, which can help reduce depreciation risk from here. Strong demand for practical, well-equipped small SUVs should still support interest, especially for well-kept examples with desirable features.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2025 Hyundai Kona or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.09% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It carries over unchanged with strong standard safety and a spacious, practical cabin.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $27,144 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $29,180 CAD average.
• It brings a fresh redesign with new tech and more powertrain choice.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It carries over unchanged and keeps the Kona’s space, turbo power, and available AWD.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of current pricing, strong safety, and proven owner satisfaction, the 2025 is the smart default. If your priority is spending less, the 2024 is the better value play, while the 2026 makes sense only if you find a specific listing or package that suits you better.
