Is the 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty a good car?

It’s especially appealing if you need maximum towing ability and broad capability in a heavy-duty pickup, but the trade-offs are clear: price climbs quickly with options and many safety features are not standard.

With 25.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty reliable?

The 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty is presented as a rock-solid body-on-frame truck with the kind of construction you’d expect from a heavy-duty pickup.

Its performance notes point to a truck that’s built for hard work: the available diesel powertrain delivers strong towing and hauling ability, and the truck remains composed under braking even when things get urgent. Ford also includes useful towing technology that can reduce stress when you’re working the truck.

For long-term ownership, the main risk is that this is a large, complex, and expensive heavy-duty truck, so repairs and option-related costs can add up if you buy a heavily equipped example.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base XL is more utilitarian, with lower trims starting you off with analog gauges and an 8-inch touchscreen, while higher trims add much richer materials and more luxury-focused equipment. The Platinum trim brings quilted leather, a leather topper, and micro mesh metallic trim, but it also sits at the expensive end of the range.
• Powertrain: You can choose from four powertrain options, starting with a 6.8-litre V8 gas engine, then a 7.3-litre gasoline V8, plus two diesel options. The high-output Power Stroke diesel is the strongest choice, but the truck’s towing and hauling focus means you should match the engine to your actual workload.
• Safety package: Forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking is standard on the XLT trim. The Lariat adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking proximity sensors with automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system. Adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and a head-up display are standard on the King Ranch trim and above.
• Infotainment: Higher trims get a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 12-inch digital instrument panel, while lower trims start with an 8-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard and wireless throughout the lineup, and the wireless charging pad is reserved for higher trims.
• Fuel efficiency: Heavy-duty trucks are exempt from reporting fuel economy estimates, but the truck averaged around 15.6 L/100 km in mixed driving without load or towing.

Which 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty trim should I buy?

The 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty is offered in 5 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the work-focused starting point, and it makes the most sense if you want the F-250’s core capability without paying for luxury extras. It’s the trim to consider if you care most about utility and keeping the purchase price in check.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking while staying below the more expensive luxury-oriented versions. If you want a smarter balance of equipment and price, this is the one to start with.
• Lariat: This trim is the step up if you want a more complete safety and convenience package, including blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking proximity sensors with automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system.
• King Ranch: This is the better choice if you want more comfort and driver-assistance tech, since adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and a head-up display are standard here.
• Platinum: This is the luxury pick, with the richest cabin materials and the most upscale presentation. It suits you if you want the F-250 to feel as premium as possible while still delivering heavy-duty capability.

Safety features are limited to the option list and higher trims, so it’s worth paying close attention to the equipment sheet before you buy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 25.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 116 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.06% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $78,073 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty's resale value?

The current average of $80,758 CAD sits slightly below last year's $97,372 CAD.

That price drop suggests the market has softened, which can help you buy more truck for the money today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may be more sensitive to trim, mileage, and equipment than it would be in a stronger market.

If you plan to sell later, the best protection is to buy a well-equipped trim that matches broad buyer demand and keep the truck in clean, well-documented condition.

Is the 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty safe?

The 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty has no crash-test results available from either NHTSA or IIHS.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford’s standard trailer sway control helps keep a trailer stable on the highway and in crosswinds. Beyond that, many safety features are limited to the option list and higher trims: forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking is standard on the XLT, the Lariat adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking proximity sensors with automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system, and adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and a head-up display are standard on the King Ranch trim and above.

Should I buy a 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 25.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.06% compared with last year.
• The 2025 Ford F-250 is a versatile and capable workhorse that can haul impressive loads while also delivering an abundance of luxury, comfort, and technology.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of towing ability, modern tech, and heavy-duty capability, the 2025 is the one to target. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may still make sense, but the 2025’s softened pricing makes it a compelling place to shop first.
