Is the 2025 BMW 2 Series a good car?

The 2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe earns a 6.33/10 expert rating.

The model scores 7/10 across Performance, Form and function, and Cost effectiveness.

It is positioned as BMW’s affordable, sporty entry point, and the redesigned model adds a bit more power and technology. For you, that means a compact luxury sedan that leans into driving enjoyment while still offering standard all-wheel drive and useful cargo space. The trade-offs are clear: the styling is uninspired, the technology is unintuitive, and the ride quality is firm.

The main compromises are that the cabin controls can feel needlessly complicated and the ride can send noticeable thumps through the seat over rough pavement.

With 25.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is a reasonable amount of value-oriented inventory to consider.

Is the 2025 BMW 2 Series reliable?

The 2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is presented as a well-sorted redesign with standard all-wheel drive, a modern cabin, and a strong set of standard safety and convenience features. Its performance setup is straightforward: a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, and adaptive dampers are all part of the package.

The expert assessment also notes that the available safety features performed as they should, with no false alarms or technical glitches. On the ownership side, the model’s limited Canadian volume means you should pay close attention to parts, service history, and how well the car has been maintained before you buy.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 BMW 2 Series?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 2 Series Gran Coupe is described as the least expensive BMW, but the cabin and exterior styling still carry a premium feel. You should check whether the car has the features you want, because the base setup leaves some convenience and driver-assistance equipment for higher-spec or optional packages.
• Powertrain: The Canadian model uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 241 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and standard all-wheel drive. BMW says it can reach 100 km/h in six seconds.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, front and rear parking proximity sensors, and a semi-automated parking system. The optional Driving Assistant Professional package adds adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, lane-change assist, evasive steering assist, and traffic jam assist.
• Infotainment: You get a 10.7-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, and a Harman Kardon premium sound system. Over-the-air software updates are included, and the car also supports BMW Digital Key and smartphone app functions.
• Fuel efficiency: Official Canadian fuel-consumption ratings are not available. The U.S. EPA rates it at 7.8 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving.

Which 2025 BMW 2 Series trim should I buy?

The 2025 BMW 2 Series is offered in 1 trim level: 228 xDrive Gran Coupe.

Here's the short version:

The 228 xDrive Gran Coupe is the one to buy because it is the only Canadian trim and it already includes the core appeal of the model: standard all-wheel drive, the turbocharged 2.0-litre engine, adaptive dampers, a 10.7-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, and a premium audio system. If you want the best-value path into this car, this is it.

The safety package note to keep in mind is that the standard setup is solid, but the more advanced driver-assistance features are bundled into the optional Driving Assistant Professional package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 BMW 2 Series?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you have room to shop carefully without facing extreme scarcity.

• Deal availability: 25.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 87 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 27.15% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $41,883 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 BMW 2 Series's resale value?

The current average of $43,203 CAD sits slightly below last year's $59,300 CAD.

That drop suggests the market has moved in your favour if you are buying now, but it also means a future seller may need to price more competitively to stand out. If you own one for a few years, resale value will likely depend on condition, mileage, and whether the car has the desirable equipment buyers expect in this segment. The current pricing trend also means depreciation has already done some of the work for you, which can help soften the hit if you plan to keep the car for a while.

Is the 2025 BMW 2 Series safe?

The 2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe comes with standard advanced safety and driver assistance features such as forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, front and rear parking proximity sensors, and a semi-automated parking system.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

If you want the most complete safety setup, you should look for the optional Driving Assistant Professional package, which adds adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, lane-change assist, evasive steering assist, and traffic jam assist. The expert review also notes that the available safety features worked properly in testing, with no false alarms or technical glitches.

Should I buy a 2025 BMW 2 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 25.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 27.15% compared with last year.
• The redesigned model’s added power and technology matter to you, and you want the least expensive BMW with standard all-wheel drive.

The bottom line: If you want the newest version of this entry-level BMW and value the added technology and stronger value trend, the 2025 is the better path. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may still make sense, but the 2025’s softer pricing and limited Canadian inventory make it worth a close look now.
