Is the 2025 Audi SQ5 a good car?

The 2025 Audi SQ5 earns a 7.17/10 expert rating, and it is aimed at you if you want a compact luxury crossover SUV that blends sporty driving manners with added practicality and next-generation technology.

The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Technology.

It stands out for its sporty, luxurious, and fun-to-drive character, plus the standard standard-or-Sportback body styles and the redesigned platform’s added practicality. The main trade-offs are poor fuel economy and a lack of hands-free driving tech.

With 34.0% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Audi SQ5 reliable?

The 2025 Audi SQ5 is positioned as a refined, performance-focused luxury SUV, but its driver-assistance behaviour is a real concern for used buyers. The expert testing also notes that the vehicle’s technology did not always inspire confidence, especially around braking and steering-wheel detection.

The performance side is more reassuring: the turbocharged 3.0-litre V6, quattro all-wheel drive, and adaptive air suspension all contribute to a composed, sure-footed driving experience. The cabin and chassis also support the SQ5’s premium, everyday usability.

Audi Connect Care includes a four-year trial for remote vehicle controls and navigation/infotainment services, which adds some ownership convenience.

For a used buyer, the long-term risk is less about basic mechanical appeal and more about living with driver-assistance quirks that may continue to frustrate you over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Audi SQ5?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SQ5 and SQ5 Sportback are offered in Progressiv and Technik trim levels. The Technik brings extra cabin and tech polish, including the passenger-side screen and configurable lighting, while the base trim still gives you the core luxury and performance hardware.
• Powertrain: You get a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 with 362 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive. The standard adaptive air suspension is a major part of the SQ5’s ride-and-handling balance.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic high-beam headlights, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and front and rear parking sensors. The SQ5 does not offer low-speed, hands-free traffic jam assist or hands-free driving technology.
• Infotainment: The Progressiv trim includes an 11.9-inch digital instrument display and a 14.5-inch OLED touchscreen, while the Technik adds a 10.9-inch passenger touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, Audi Assistant, and a four-year trial for Audi Connect Care.
• Fuel efficiency: The official Natural Resources Canada fuel economy rating is 11.4 litres per 100 kilometres combined, and testing observed 11.5 L/100 km.

Which 2025 Audi SQ5 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Audi SQ5 is offered in 4 trim levels: Progressiv, Technik, Progressiv Sportback, Technik Sportback.

Here's the short version:

• Progressiv: This is the trim to focus on if you want the SQ5’s core performance, luxury, and technology without paying for the extra passenger-side screen and lighting features. It gives you the essential Audi Digital Stage setup, the strong V6 powertrain, and the standard safety and convenience equipment.
• Technik: This is the best-value choice if you want the fullest SQ5 experience. It adds the passenger touchscreen and the more elaborate lighting features, while keeping the same strong mechanical package and premium cabin feel.
• Progressiv Sportback: Choose this if you want the Sportback body style’s sleeker look and still want to stay closer to the entry point of the range.
• Technik Sportback: This is the most feature-rich version, combining the Sportback body with the top trim’s extra tech and lighting upgrades.

The safety package is standard across the range, but the driver-assistance behaviour is still something you should test carefully on your own drive.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Audi SQ5?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 53 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.24% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $70,455 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Audi SQ5's resale value?

The current average of $70,455 CAD sits slightly below last year's $81,208 CAD.

That price movement suggests the SQ5 has become more accessible for used buyers than it was a year ago. If you buy well now, you may be starting from a more favourable entry point than earlier shoppers did.

For a future seller, the softer pricing means you should expect less upside than last year’s market would have suggested. The good news is that the SQ5 still has strong appeal as a sporty luxury SUV, which should help it remain desirable if you keep it in clean condition and with the right equipment.

Is the 2025 Audi SQ5 safe?

The 2025 Audi SQ5 does not yet have published IIHS or NHTSA ratings of its own, but the related 2025 Audi Q5 earned a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, while IIHS testing on that model produced top Good ratings only in the small overlap front test and Acceptable and Marginal results elsewhere.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features on the SQ5 include automatic high-beam headlights, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and front and rear parking sensors. Audi also includes Rear Turn Assist and Emergency Assist in the MMI safety settings menu, and the steering wheel offers hands-on detection capability.

The main caveat is that the SQ5’s driver-assistance systems can be intrusive and inconsistent, including unwanted braking and unreliable steering-wheel detection. That is the biggest safety-related concern to watch for on a used test drive.

Should I buy a 2025 Audi SQ5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.24% compared with last year.
• The redesigned SQ5’s sporty, luxurious, and fun-to-drive character matters more to you than maximum efficiency.

The bottom line: If you want the newest SQ5 with the strongest mix of performance, practicality, and technology, the 2025 is the one to target. If you are more price-sensitive, you should still shop carefully and compare listings closely, because the softer market gives you a better chance of finding a well-priced example.
