Used 2024 Volvo XC90 for Sale nearNepean, ON

How much does the 2024 Volvo XC90 cost?

Prices have softened 13.18% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 211 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Volvo XC90 a good car?

Yes — you get a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating, which points to broad appeal with some clear compromises. The XC90’s strongest calling cards are its timeless design, attractive cabin, and breadth of powertrains, including a plug-in hybrid variant. It also remains a comfortable luxury SUV with strong safety credentials.

The trade-offs are just as clear: it carries over unchanged, its value for money is questioned because of the steep price tag, and its safety tech is not as innovative as some rivals. For you, that means the XC90 makes the most sense if style, comfort, and premium presence matter more than chasing the newest tech or the sharpest pricing. The market shows 32.7% of listings as good or great deals, which is a decent sign of shopping opportunity.

Is the 2024 Volvo XC90 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The XC90 is presented as a well-built luxury SUV with a strong safety reputation, and its overall package has aged well despite being near a decade into its current generation. Its powertrain lineup and cabin execution help it feel relevant, even if the vehicle itself is no longer new.

The performance side is also reassuring: the plug-in hybrid setup delivers strong output, and the SUV is described as appealing rather than troublesome in day-to-day use. On the cost side, the steep purchase price means you may need a longer ownership horizon to justify it, especially if you are buying used and want to spread depreciation over more years. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that age-related shortcomings and premium running costs can become more noticeable over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Volvo XC90?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The XC90 is offered in Core, Plus, and Ultimate trim levels. The Ultimate trim brings the richest cabin presentation, including massaging front seats, a premium headliner, a high-end audio system, and other luxury touches, while the base trim is more likely to leave you without those upscale extras.
• Powertrain: You can choose between the B6 mild-hybrid setup and the Recharge T8 plug-in hybrid. The Recharge T8 adds an 18.8-kWh battery and a 107-kW electric motor, delivers 455 horsepower and 523 lb-ft of torque, and offers 53 kilometres of estimated electric-only range.
• Safety package: Pilot Assist pairs adaptive cruise control with lane-centring assist, and the XC90 also includes large-animal detection, traffic-start notification, and standard front and rear parking sensors. Volvo does not offer a hands-free driving assistance system in this SUV.
• Infotainment: The dashboard-centre 9-inch touchscreen uses Google Built-in, with Google Maps, Google Play, and Google Assistant. Apple CarPlay is standard, and the system includes over-the-air-style connected features for four years before subscription payments are needed.
• Fuel efficiency: The Recharge T8 is estimated to average 8.9 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving, though the test vehicle returned 9.6 L/100 km in evaluation.

Which 2024 Volvo XC90 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Volvo XC90 is offered in 3 trim levels: Core, Plus, Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• Core: This is the entry point if you want the XC90’s design, safety reputation, and Google-based infotainment without paying for the most lavish extras. It makes sense if you value the core XC90 experience more than luxury add-ons.
• Plus: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it should give you a stronger equipment balance without pushing you all the way to the top price tier. If you want a more complete luxury feel without going overboard, start here.
• Ultimate: Choose this if you want the most upscale XC90 experience, especially the richer cabin materials and available comfort and audio upgrades. It suits you best if you plan to keep the SUV for the long haul and want the most premium version.

Safety content notes that the XC90’s advanced driver-assistance systems are competent but not especially innovative, and Pilot Assist can struggle in some situations.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Volvo XC90?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should shop carefully and compare listings rather than rushing.

• Deal availability: 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 211 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.18% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $55,739 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Volvo XC90's resale value?

The current average of $55,946 CAD sits slightly below last year's $64,437 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the XC90 has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. For a future seller, that means your biggest risk is overpaying today and then facing a slower recovery when you go to sell. The good news is that strong demand for well-regarded luxury SUVs can still support values, especially when the vehicle has broad appeal and a premium image.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Volvo XC90 safe?

The Volvo XC90 earns five-star ratings in every NHTSA assessment except rollover resistance, where it earns a four-star rating typical of SUVs. In addition, the IIHS says the XC90 was a Top Safety Pick+ in 2023.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Volvo includes Pilot Assist, which combines adaptive cruise control with lane-centring assist, along with large-animal detection, traffic-start notification, and standard front and rear parking sensors. The caveat is that the XC90’s driver-assistance tech is not especially advanced for the class, and Pilot Assist showed some troubling behaviour in testing, including confusion on curves, rural lane markings, and one unwanted steering correction on a highway exit.

Should I buy a 2024 Volvo XC90 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.18% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It stands out for timeless design, a comfortable cabin, and a plug-in hybrid option.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $49,008 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $55,946 CAD average.
• It brings updated powertrains and forward-thinking infotainment.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $68,738 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $55,946 CAD average.
• It adds updated styling, materials, and mechanical tweaks for better comfort and handling.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price and current-market availability, the 2024 is the sensible default. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2023 is the value play; if you want the newest updates and can stretch your budget, the 2025 is the upgrade path.
