Used 2024 Volvo XC90 for Sale nearKingston, ON

How much does the 2024 Volvo XC90 cost?

Prices have softened 13.89% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 185 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Volvo XC90 a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.5/5 user-rated SUV with an expert rating of 7.2/10. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

The 2024 XC90 stands out for its timeless design, upscale cabin materials, and broad powertrain range, including a plug-in hybrid variant. It is also described as comfortable and safety-focused, which suits you well if you want a refined three-row luxury SUV with a strong family-friendly bent.

The trade-offs are that it is showing its age in several ways, its Pilot Assist behaviour is a concern, and it carries a steep price tag with questionable value for money. Even so, 37.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Volvo XC90 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The XC90’s design and engineering have aged well, and the expert review describes it as a likeable plug-in hybrid SUV with plenty to appreciate in everyday use. Its powertrain also feels robust, with strong electric and gas operation when properly charged and used as intended.

The performance notes point to a capable system that can handle daily driving efficiently, especially when you keep the battery charged and use the hybrid modes thoughtfully. The cost-effectiveness commentary also suggests the plug-in hybrid can take years to pay back versus the less expensive B6 model, which matters if you plan to own it long term.

For used buyers, the main ownership risk is that age-related flaws and expensive running costs can become more noticeable over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Volvo XC90?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The XC90 is sold in Core, Plus, and Ultimate trim levels. The cabin is dated but fitted with rich materials, especially in Ultimate trim, where you can get features such as massaging front seats, a premium headliner, a high-end Bowers & Wilkins audio system, and a trailer hitch. Base versions will feel less lavish, so check carefully which comfort and luxury features are included.
• Powertrain: You can shop the B6 mild-hybrid four-cylinder or the Recharge T8 plug-in hybrid. The Recharge T8 adds an 18.8-kWh battery and a 107-kW electric motor, with 53 kilometres of estimated electric-only range and an average of 8.9 L/100 km in combined driving when used as a hybrid.
• Safety package: Pilot Assist pairs adaptive cruise control with lane-centring assist, and the XC90 also includes large-animal detection and a notification system that alerts you when traffic ahead starts moving again. There is no hands-free driving assistance system, and Pilot Assist behaviour is a concern.
• Infotainment: You get a 9-inch touchscreen with Google Built-in, Google Maps, Google Play, and Google Assistant. Apple CarPlay is standard, and the system includes over-the-air-style connected functionality for four years before subscriptions are needed.
• Fuel efficiency: The Recharge T8 is rated at 8.9 L/100 km in combined driving, though the test vehicle returned 9.6 L/100 km in evaluation.

Which 2024 Volvo XC90 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Volvo XC90 is offered in 3 trim levels: Core, Plus, Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• Core: This is the entry point if you want the XC90’s design, safety reputation, and Google Built-in infotainment without stretching to the pricier trims. It makes the most sense if you value the XC90’s core strengths more than luxury extras.
• Plus: This is the best-value trim if you want a stronger balance of equipment and price. It should be the trim to target if you want a more complete luxury experience without going all the way to the top.
• Ultimate: Choose this if you want the richest cabin and the most upscale features, including the premium audio and comfort upgrades highlighted in the test vehicle.

Safety content notes that the XC90’s advanced driver-assistance system is competent but not especially innovative, and Pilot Assist is a point to evaluate carefully.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Volvo XC90?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 37.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 185 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.89% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $55,937 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Volvo XC90's resale value?

The current average of $55,937 CAD sits slightly below last year's $64,958 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the XC90 is currently more buyer-friendly than seller-friendly, which can make resale values feel pressured in the near term. If you’re planning to sell later, the current trend implies you may need to price competitively to stand out.

The good news is that the XC90 still has strong appeal thanks to its design, comfort, and safety reputation. Those qualities can help support demand when you eventually list it.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Volvo XC90 safe?

The Volvo XC90 earns five-star ratings in every NHTSA assessment except rollover resistance, where it earns a four-star rating, and IIHS says it was a Top Safety Pick+ in 2023.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The XC90 includes Pilot Assist, which combines adaptive cruise control with lane-centring assist, along with large-animal detection and a traffic-movement notification system. It also has standard front and rear parking sensors, with a surround-view camera available.

The main caveat is that Volvo’s driver-assistance tech is not as advanced as what you’ll find in some rivals, and Pilot Assist struggled with curves, passing lanes, rural lane markings, and one highway-exit situation during testing.

Should I buy a 2024 Volvo XC90 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 37.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.89% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It carries over without changes and remains appealing for design, comfort, and plug-in hybrid availability.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $49,480 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $55,937 CAD average.
• It brings updated mild-hybrid powertrains and strong infotainment.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $69,930 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $55,937 CAD average.
• It adds updated styling, materials, and mechanical tweaks for better comfort and handling.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of current pricing and the XC90’s core strengths, the 2024 is the sensible pick. If price matters most, the 2023 is the value route; if you want the newest updates and can spend more, the 2025 is the upgrade path.
