Is the 2024 Subaru WRX a good car?

The 2024 Subaru WRX stands out as a practical performance car that still leans hard into its rally-bred identity. It comes standard with Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, and the WRX’s turbocharged Boxer engine and sharp handling are central to its appeal. For buyers who want a compact sedan that feels more engaging than the average commuter car, that combination is a major part of the draw.

It also offers a useful mix of everyday equipment and enthusiast hardware. The WRX’s cabin includes features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the Sport trim adds an 11.6-inch touchscreen, Subaru’s EyeSight driver assistance suite, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane change assist. Higher trims add more comfort and convenience, including adaptive headlights, faux leather seats with microsuede inserts, navigation, heated rear seats, and adaptive dampers on the GT. The WRX GT also brings an 11-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.

Even so, the 2024 Subaru WRX remains distinctive because it blends year-round traction, manual-transmission availability, and genuine performance character in a package that is still usable every day. 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Subaru WRX reliable?

The 2024 Subaru WRX stands out as a practical performance car that still leans hard into its rally-bred identity. The WRX GT also brings an 11-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.

There are trade-offs, though. The WRX is praised for being fun to drive, with great handling and standard all-wheel drive, but it is also noted for outdated technology, poor fuel economy, and a cramped back seat in older models. Even so, the 2024 Subaru WRX remains distinctive because it blends year-round traction, manual-transmission availability, and genuine performance character in a package that is still usable every day.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a performance-focused car can be more demanding if it has been driven hard or maintained inconsistently.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Subaru WRX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 222 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.81% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $33,846 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Subaru WRX's resale value?

The current average of $33,948 CAD sits slightly below last year's $37,642 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more confidently today. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained. If you keep the car clean and well documented, you are better positioned to protect value in a market that has already softened.

Should I buy a 2024 Subaru WRX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.81% compared with last year.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $31,359 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $33,948 CAD average.
• It keeps the established rally-inspired formula.

The bottom line: Choose the 2024 if you want the stronger current-market mix of inventory and pricing momentum, especially if you value shopping from a broader pool of listings. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2023 is the better path because it costs less while keeping the WRX’s core appeal intact.
