How much does the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek cost?

Prices have softened 9.67% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 806 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek earns a 4.8/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its build quality, comfort, handling, fuel efficiency, safety features, and value for money. It also fits buyers who want a small vehicle with broad capability and a strong equipment list, especially if standard all-wheel drive matters to you.

The main trade-offs are the underwhelming base engine and interior materials that feel cheap. Even so, the Wilderness trim adds a more adventurous angle for shoppers who want standout off-road capability.

With 34.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s a decent share of attractive inventory in the market.

Is the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a vehicle that feels well built, comfortable, and dependable enough to inspire confidence over time. That lines up with the Crosstrek’s reputation for value, safety, and everyday usability.

The expert assessment also notes that Subaru has done an admirable job of packaging appealing features into every trim level, which supports the sense that the Crosstrek is built to be a trouble-free long-term companion. The updated 2.0-litre powertrain also generates less vibration than the previous one, which is a good sign for day-to-day refinement and ownership comfort.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the base engine may feel underpowered if you regularly carry passengers, cargo, or drive in demanding conditions.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Subaru Crosstrek?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, all-season tyres, 22 centimetres of ground clearance, and standard roof rails, but the rails do not double as crossbars. The Wilderness trim adds unique exterior and interior design elements, bigger cladding, new bumpers, copper accents, StarTex synthetic leather, all-weather floormats, and an interior LED light in the cargo area.
• Powertrain: The 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine makes 152 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque, while the 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine delivers 182 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. All versions use a CVT, and there is no manual transmission. The Wilderness trim also gets different gearing for more aggressive uphill terrain.
• Safety package: Subaru’s EyeSight driver assist technology is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. For 2024, it uses a wider-angle lens, and automatic emergency steering is included on cars equipped with blind-spot monitoring.
• Infotainment: The 11.6-inch touchscreen is standard on all but the Convenience trim. It includes wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, and the system retains physical controls for temperature, defrosters, tuning, and volume.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates 8.8 L/100 km in the city and 7.1 L/100 km on the highway for the 2.0-litre Crosstrek. The 2.5-litre version is rated at 8.9 L/100 km city and 7.2 L/100 km highway.

Which 2024 Subaru Crosstrek trim should I buy?

The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek is offered in 4 trim levels: Convenience, Touring, Onyx, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• Convenience: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Crosstrek’s core appeal: standard AWD, useful ground clearance, and the model’s rugged everyday character. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the lineup.
• Touring: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more equipment while staying close to the heart of the lineup. It also gets paddle shifters, and it keeps the Crosstrek’s practical, well-rounded personality intact.
• Onyx: Choose this if you want the stronger 2.5-litre engine and the more advanced dual-function X-Mode system with mud and deep snow settings. It also adds a wireless charger.
• Limited: This is the most feature-rich mainstream trim, with the 2.5-litre engine, dual-function X-Mode, a wireless charger, and a 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, which makes it easier to shop by equipment and powertrain rather than by basic protection.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Subaru Crosstrek?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some confidence if you’re patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 806 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.67% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $29,867 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek's resale value?

The current average of $29,867 CAD sits slightly below last year's $33,066 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can be helpful if you’re buying now but less favourable if you’re planning to sell soon. A softer market usually means future sellers may need to price more competitively to stand out.

Even so, the Crosstrek’s broad appeal, standard AWD, and strong equipment list should help it remain attractive to used buyers. Models with the right trim and condition should continue to draw interest, especially if demand stays steady for practical small crossovers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek safe?

The Subaru Crosstrek has been awarded a Top Safety Pick designation by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) since 2013. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek five stars overall.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Subaru’s EyeSight driver assist technology is standard, and it includes automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. For 2024, EyeSight uses a wider-angle lens for a larger view of the road ahead, and automatic emergency steering is included on cars equipped with blind-spot monitoring.

That said, the IIHS has yet to review the 2024 model, so the latest crash-test picture is still incomplete.

Should I buy a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.67% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings multiple engine options, a dazzling touchscreen, upgraded safety features, and a new Wilderness trim level.

The bottom line: The 2024 Crosstrek is the better pick if you want the refreshed version with stronger tech and safety appeal, plus the added draw of the Wilderness trim. If you’re mainly focused on value, a nearby model year may still make sense, but the 2024 is the one to target if you want the most complete mix of equipment and capability.
