Is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA a good car?

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA stands out as a compact luxury car that leans heavily into style and technology. It is described as all-new in its second generation, with a design that could easily be mistaken for an updated version of the first. Compared with the earlier car, it is just over five centimetres longer and gains 70 litres of cargo space, which makes it a little more practical without losing the sleek shape that defines the model.

Inside, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA follows Mercedes-Benz’s latest design theme, with huge display screens, lots of ambient lighting and a glitzy look. The standard equipment list is strong, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, heated and electrically adjustable front seats, leatherette upholstery and LED headlights, along with active braking and blind-spot assist. Buyers can also choose from a wide range of options such as a wireless charging pad, Burmester sound system, navigation, surround view system, heated rear seats, a panoramic sunroof, a head-up display and Digital Light advanced LED headlights.

That makes it a strong fit if you want a premium small car that prioritises style, technology and a rich feature set over pure value. The market also shows 45.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA reliable?

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA is presented as a car that appeals most to buyers who value comfort, equipment and premium feel over outright value. Its broad spread of powertrains and standard equipment help it feel well rounded for daily use.

At the same time, Mercedes-Benz’s reliability reputation remains only middling, so you should go in expecting a used luxury-car ownership experience rather than a low-risk mainstream one. For long-term ownership, that means budgeting carefully and paying close attention to maintenance history before you buy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA?

This looks like a buyer’s market for the 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA, with softer pricing and a meaningful share of listings sitting in deal territory.

• Deal availability: 45.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 197 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 26.87% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $38,254 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA's resale value?

The current average of $38,747 CAD sits slightly below last year's $52,982 CAD.

For a future seller, that means the market has already reset lower, so your resale outcome will depend heavily on condition, mileage and equipment. If you buy well now, you may have less downside than someone who paid closer to last year’s higher average. The current pricing also suggests buyers are being more selective, which can make well-kept examples stand out.

Should I buy a 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLA or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 45.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 26.87% compared with last year.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest version of this compact luxury car with strong equipment and a more favourable used-market price, the 2024 is the one to focus on. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby year may be worth considering, but the 2024 offers the clearest mix of features, style and current market value.
