Prices have softened 7.96% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 240 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Mazda MAZDA3 a good car?

Yes — 4.67/5 from owners and 7.5/10 from our experts. The 2024 Mazda MAZDA3 stands out as a compact car that can be tailored to your priorities, with sedan and hatchback body styles, front- or all-wheel drive, and naturally aspirated or turbocharged powertrains. It also aims for a more upscale feel than many mainstream rivals, with polished styling and a premium-leaning character.

The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

The main trade-offs are a confusing trim structure and limited practicality in the back half of the cabin, including not much cargo space and a cramped rear seat. If you want a small car that feels more special than basic transportation, this one fits that brief well.

31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Mazda MAZDA3 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The 2024 Mazda MAZDA3 is presented as a polished, well-rounded compact car with strong driving dynamics and a design that has aged gracefully, which supports confidence in day-to-day ownership. Its expert assessment also points to a car that feels more upscale than many rivals, suggesting a mature and well-developed product.

The performance side is straightforward and proven: you get a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre four-cylinder standard, with a turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder available on higher trims. That kind of familiar mechanical layout can be reassuring for used buyers who want a car with a clear, established formula.

If you plan to keep it long term, the biggest ownership risk is not mechanical complexity so much as choosing the right configuration for your needs, since the trim structure and equipment spread can make shopping more complicated than it first appears.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Mazda MAZDA3?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GX, GS, and GT sedan trims are the core lineup, while the hatchback adds the premium Suna trim. The base GX is the most stripped-back version, so you’ll want to check whether it has the equipment you expect before you buy.
• Powertrain: You get a standard naturally aspirated 2.5-litre four-cylinder with 191 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque, plus an optional turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder on higher trims. AWD is available with the turbocharged engine in certain configurations, and the six-speed manual is reserved for the Sport GT with FWD.
• Safety package: Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard. Automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control with stop-and-go begin at GS, while GT adds Traffic Jam Assist.
• Infotainment: Most trims use an 8.8-inch display, while a new available 10.25-inch screen adds touchscreen functionality only for Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and wireless charging is available on upper trims.
• Fuel efficiency: In FWD, non-turbo form, fuel economy measures 8.4 L/100 km city, 6.3 highway, and 7.5 combined for the sedan, and 8.5 city, 6.5 highway, and 7.6 combined for the hatchback. AWD with the naturally aspirated engine is rated at 8.9/6.6/7.9 for the sedan and 9.0/7.1/8.1 for the hatchback, while the turbocharged powertrain returns 10.1/7.3/8.8 for the sedan and 10.1/7.5/8.9 for the hatchback.

Which 2024 Mazda MAZDA3 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Mazda MAZDA3 is offered in 4 trim levels: GX, GS, GT, and Suna.

Here's the short version:

• GX: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Mazda3’s styling and core driving character at the lowest price, but you should be sure the standard equipment is enough for you.
• GS: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the key safety tech you’re most likely to want, including automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control with stop-and-go.
• GT: Choose this if you want the more premium-feeling Mazda3 experience, especially if you’re interested in the turbocharged engine, AWD availability, or the six-speed manual in Sport GT form.
• Suna: This is the hatchback’s top trim and suits you if you want the most upscale, fully featured version of the Mazda3 in this lineup.

The safety package starts at GS, so if you want the most important driver-assistance features without stretching too far, that’s the trim to target.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Mazda MAZDA3?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 240 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.96% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $26,641 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Mazda MAZDA3's resale value?

The current average of $26,641 CAD sits slightly below last year's $28,947 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable point, but it also means future sellers may face a market that is still adjusting downward from prior levels. If you own one for several years, the Mazda3’s premium feel and strong driving character should help it remain appealing to used shoppers.

The model’s broad configuration range can also support resale, since different buyers can be drawn to different body styles and powertrains. Well-kept examples with the right equipment should continue to attract attention.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Mazda MAZDA3 safe?

The 2024 Mazda3, in both hatchback and sedan forms, was awarded five stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Additionally, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) named it a 2024 Top Safety Pick+.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard, while automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control with stop-and-go begin at GS. GT adds Traffic Jam Assist.

That means the base trim leaves some important active-safety features off the standard list, so you should pay close attention to trim level if safety tech matters to you most.

Should I buy a 2024 Mazda MAZDA3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.96% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines flexible body styles, multiple powertrains, and a more upscale feel than many compact rivals.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $25,194 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $26,641 CAD average.
• It offers upscale feel and hatchback usefulness for everyday life.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $28,358 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $26,641 CAD average.
• It adds Amazon Alexa Built-in on GT and above trims.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, features, and current-market availability, the 2024 is the strongest all-around pick. If you’re shopping on a tighter budget, the 2023 is the better value play, while the 2025 makes sense if you want the newer tech update and are willing to pay more.
