CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Kia Sportage
Summary
With 89 currently listed for sale and an average price of $26,980 CAD, 25.8% of 2024 Kia Sportage listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Kia Sportage 4.5 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Kia Sportage stands out as a compact SUV that gives buyers a lot of choice without feeling overly complicated. It sits in the fifth generation, which debuted for the 2023 model year, and the 2024 version carried over with no major changes. In Canada, the line-up includes LX, EX, EX Premium, and SX trims, and Kia also offers X-Line and X-Line Limited variants. That breadth helps the Sportage appeal to shoppers who want a straightforward family crossover, but also to those looking for a more upscale or more rugged-looking version.
Equipment is one of the Sportage’s biggest strengths. Heated front seats are standard in Canada, while a heated steering wheel starts at the X-Line grade and ventilated front seats arrive at EX Premium. A panoramic sunroof starts at EX on gas models and at EX Premium on electrified versions, and dual-zone climate control is standard beginning at EX. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Kia Connect are standard, and lower trims come with an eight-inch screen and analog gauges. Safety coverage is also broad, with standard features including forward collision avoidance assist, auto emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane follow assist, and a rear occupant alert system.
The Sportage also offers a useful spread of powertrains and efficiency figures. The gas model is estimated at 8.3 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving in front-wheel drive form and 9.4 L/100 km with all-wheel drive. The Sportage Hybrid averages 6.2 L/100 km combined, while the Plug-in Hybrid has up to 55 kilometres of electric range and is rated at 6.7 L/100 km combined after that. The trade-off is that the base gas engine is described as underwhelming, and the Sportage’s interior materials are said to feel cheap. Even so, the 2024 Kia Sportage remains appealing because it combines strong value, a wide equipment range, and multiple powertrain choices in a segment where those qualities matter.

Great features with lots of safety features. Drives remarkably well. I can now see why it is such a popular vehicle.

Pros: Smooth and quiet ride as long as windows are up. Good price for all the features on the vehicle in the lower trims. Lots of room in back and trunk. Cons: Quality of workmanship does not match Honda and Toyota. Interior has too much hard plastic which don’t align smoothly in some areas. Factory paint job also very poor. Engine loud outside when idling.

How much does the 2024 Kia Sportage cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $29,091 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $29,091 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $33,508 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $33,508 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −13.18% |
Prices have softened 13.18% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 677 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2024 Kia Sportage a good car?
Yes — the 2024 Kia Sportage earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which supports its appeal as a compact SUV with broad trim choice and a straightforward family-friendly layout. The overview points to a model that gives you plenty of equipment, multiple powertrain choices, and a range that stretches from practical to more upscale or rugged-looking versions. That makes it a strong fit if you want flexibility without a complicated shopping process. With 34.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is also meaningful market opportunity.
Is the 2024 Kia Sportage reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The overview also points to broad standard equipment and a well-rounded feature set, which can help make day-to-day ownership feel easier and more predictable. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is choosing a poorly maintained example, so service history and condition still matter.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Kia Sportage?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 677 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 13.18% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $29,091 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Kia Sportage's resale value?
The current average of $29,091 CAD sits slightly below last year's $33,508 CAD.
That softer pricing can help you buy more affordably now, but it also means future resale values may face some pressure if the market stays competitive. If you plan to sell later, the current trend suggests you should focus on condition, mileage, and trim desirability to protect value. Strong equipment and broad buyer appeal can help offset some depreciation.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2024 Kia Sportage or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 13.18% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $27,041 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $29,091 CAD average.
- It offers a stylish, roomy, and tech-forward package.
