What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Kia Seltos?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the most basic version, but it still includes 17-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats and side mirrors, fog lights, an 8-inch touchscreen, and standard AWD is not included unless you add it. Higher trims add more comfort and convenience, while the SX and X-Line bring the most upscale equipment and styling.
• Powertrain: The base 2.0-litre four-cylinder makes 146 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque and uses an IVT. The SX and X-Line use a turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder with 195 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque paired with an eight-speed automatic. The base engine is the efficiency play, while the turbo adds stronger acceleration but can feel laggy at lower speeds.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision avoidance assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane keep assist and lane-departure warning, lane-follow assist, automatic high beams, driver attention warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and Safe Exit Warning. EX Premium adds smart adaptive cruise control, while SX adds traffic sign recognition, highway driving assist, junction-turning function, and drive-away warning.
• Infotainment: The base setup uses an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Upper trims upgrade to a 10.25-inch touchscreen and a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument panel, and the system keeps physical volume, tuning, and climate controls. Wireless charging is included on EX Premium, and the SX and X-Line get an upgraded Bose stereo.
• Fuel efficiency: The base 2.0-litre engine with FWD returns 7.6 L/100 km combined. With AWD, it returns 8.2 L/100 km combined. The 1.6-litre turbo with AWD returns 9.1 L/100 km combined.

Which 2024 Kia Seltos trim should I buy?

The 2024 Kia Seltos is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, EX, EX Premium, SX, and X-Line.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the value-focused starting point, and it already gives you heated front seats, heated side mirrors, fog lights, an 8-inch touchscreen, and standard safety equipment. If you want the lowest entry price and can live without the extra convenience features, this is the trim to start with.
• EX: This trim adds a sunroof, solar glass, keyless entry with push-button start, LED daytime running lights, and upgraded upholstery. It’s the best fit if you want a more polished daily driver without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• EX Premium: This is the best-value upgrade if you want the biggest jump in comfort and tech, because it adds a fully digital instrument cluster, an electrochromatic rearview mirror, a rear cargo cover, wireless charging, and standard AWD.
• SX: This is the most feature-rich mainstream trim, with 18-inch wheels, rain-sensing wipers, a leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel, a Bose premium stereo, and Kia’s digital key. It also adds more advanced driver-assistance features.
• X-Line: This is the style-led top trim in Canada, with gloss black 18-inch wheels, a dark gunmetal grille, black roof rails, and the turbocharged engine with standard AWD. Choose it if you want the most distinctive look and the strongest powertrain.

Standard safety equipment is strong across the lineup, while EX Premium and SX bring the most meaningful driver-assistance upgrades.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Kia Seltos?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to compare listings and wait for the right one.

• Deal availability: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 713 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.56% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $25,889 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Kia Seltos's resale value?

The current average of $26,245 CAD sits slightly below last year's $29,676 CAD.

That softer pricing can work in your favour if you’re buying now, but it also means future resale values may remain sensitive to market conditions. If prices stay near today’s level, a seller may need to be more competitive than in stronger pricing periods.

The good news is that the Seltos has broad appeal because it combines practicality, useful space, and strong standard equipment. That kind of market positioning can help support demand when you eventually sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Kia Seltos safe?

The 2024 Kia Seltos earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assistance features include forward collision avoidance assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane keep assist and lane-departure warning, lane-follow assist, automatic high beams, driver attention warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and Safe Exit Warning. EX Premium adds smart adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and curve prediction, while SX adds traffic sign recognition, highway driving assist, junction-turning function, and drive-away warning.

The main safety caveat is that some of the more advanced driver-assistance features are reserved for higher trims, so you’ll want to check carefully if you’re comparing a base model against a better-equipped one.

Should I buy a 2024 Kia Seltos or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.56% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings refreshed styling and updated technology while keeping the Seltos’s practical packaging and strong standard safety equipment.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest version of this small crossover’s formula, the 2024 is the one to target because it adds updated tech and styling without changing the Seltos’s core strengths. If your priority is stretching your budget, a nearby model year may still make sense, but the 2024 is the better pick if you value the refresh and can find a well-priced listing.
