CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid

Summary
With 83 currently listed for sale and an average price of $43,548 CAD, 30.1% of 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid 4.75 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid stands out as the start of a new generation that brings a boxier, more utilitarian look, a standard third row of seats, and a noticeable increase in size and weight. It also splits opinion with its unusual proportions and pixelated lights, so its design is one of its most distinctive traits. Under the skin, it uses a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with an electric hybrid motor and a six-speed automatic transmission, with 231 horsepower and standard HTRAC all-wheel drive in Canada. It is not the quickest option in its class, needing just over eight seconds to reach 100 km/h, but it is tuned more for comfort than excitement, with a soft ride and well-controlled wind and road noise.
For buyers, the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid’s appeal lies in its generous standard equipment and strong value proposition. The Preferred Hybrid includes 18-inch alloy wheels, a hands-free power liftgate, synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a curved display with a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and digital instrument panel, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Safety equipment is also extensive, with features such as forward collision avoidance assist with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, a blind spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, lane keep assist, a driver condition monitor, and a safe rear-passenger exit warning system. Fuel consumption is rated at 6.8 litres per 100 kilometres in the city, 6.9 on the highway, and 6.9 combined, which helps explain why it is attractive to shoppers who want a three-row SUV without giving up efficiency.
There are a few drawbacks to keep in mind. The styling is polarising, and the driving dynamics are described as dull rather than engaging. Even so, the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid offers a lot of standard features for the money, a comfortable cabin, and the practicality of a three-row layout, making it a compelling choice for buyers who value space, efficiency, and equipment over sporty character.

So far, this has been one of the best hybrids I’ve ever owned. Extremely smooth, both hybrid system and ride. Averaging around 34 mpg. It has enough power to get the job done. Best of all it doesn’t have a CVT.

I am in love with this vehicle. From the wireless Apple CarPlay to the Bluelink, virtual key, over 12 inch screen. It has everything I would ever want on a car at a very fair price. So happy with my purchase

Like the looks of the car, but really like the gas mileage looks like a poor man’s defender from Range Rover

Is the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid a good car?
Yes — the 4.75/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. The 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid stands out as the start of a new generation with boxy, utilitarian styling and a standard third row of seats, so it suits you if you want a family-focused SUV with more presence and a practical layout. It also brings a larger footprint, a comfort-oriented ride, and a generous standard equipment list, including a curved display, wireless smartphone integration, and a broad set of safety features. With 33.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some market opportunity if you shop carefully.
Is the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid reliable?
Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The overview points to a well-equipped, comfort-focused hybrid SUV with standard all-wheel drive in Canada and a strong safety package, which supports confidence for everyday use. Its hybrid powertrain and soft ride also suggest a vehicle built for steady family duty rather than hard use.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright performance and more about whether the polarising redesign and added complexity fit your needs over time.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you focus on well-priced examples.
- Deal availability: 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 78 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.12% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $42,088 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid's resale value?
The current average of $43,683 CAD sits slightly below last year's $47,029 CAD.
That softer pricing can help you buy more confidently now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if values continue to normalise. The current range still leaves room for depreciation management if you buy near the lower end and keep the vehicle in strong condition. A model with broad appeal and strong equipment can be easier to move later, especially when shoppers are comparing family SUVs on value.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.12% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $31,607 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $43,683 CAD average.
- It offers practical value with comfort, space, and efficiency.
The bottom line: Choose the 2024 if you want the newer design, standard third row, and stronger feature set, especially if you can find a well-priced listing. If your priority is saving money, the 2023 is the better value path and still gives you the core hybrid practicality you want.
