How much does the 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz cost?

Prices have softened 11.12% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 190 listings available, which suggests a decent amount of inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz a good car?

Generally — it earns a 4.3/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

The Santa Cruz stands out because it blends pickup utility with a compact, quirky shape that gives it a distinctive presence. It has plenty of utility for its size, and its peppy powertrain helps it feel more lively than its footprint might suggest. That makes it a strong fit if you want something practical but not conventional.

The main trade-offs are poor fuel economy and a cramped back seat, so it suits you best if you prioritise style and utility over rear-seat space and efficiency. On the market side, 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Santa Cruz is backed by a strong warranty, which supports its appeal for long-term ownership. Its overall formula is also familiar, which can be reassuring if you want a vehicle with an established track record rather than a brand-new concept.

Its peppy powertrain and strong warranty are both positives for dependability-minded buyers. For used shoppers, the main long-term ownership risk is that fuel costs and rear-seat practicality may remain everyday compromises rather than wear-and-tear concerns.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Canadian lineup includes Preferred and Ultimate. The Ultimate adds a more upscale feel, while the Preferred is the starting point and can be equipped with extra equipment through the Trend Package. If you want the most complete feature set, the Ultimate is the one to target.
• Powertrain: Canadian units are sold exclusively with all-wheel drive, and the turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder delivers 282 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. It is described as surprisingly peppy, with smooth shifts and easy passing.
• Safety package: All trims get forward collision avoidance with pedestrian detection, blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, lane-keep assist, lane-following assist, safe exit warning and rear occupant alert. Adaptive cruise control and forward-collision avoidance with pedestrian-, cyclist- and junction-turning detection are optional on the Preferred trim’s Trend Package.
• Infotainment: You get a 10.25-inch display infotainment system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not available in Canada, and there is no physical volume knob. Wireless charging is offered only on the Ultimate trim.
• Fuel efficiency: Expect to burn 12.2 L/100 km in city driving, 8.7 L/100 km on the highway and 10.6 L/100 km combined.

Which 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz trim should I buy?

The 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz is offered in 2 trim levels: Preferred and Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• Preferred: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Santa Cruz formula with the standard safety suite and the truck’s distinctive style. If you want the lowest-cost way into the model, this is the trim to start with, though the available Trend Package is worth considering if you want more convenience and driver-assistance features.
• Ultimate: This is the best-value trim if you want the most complete Santa Cruz experience. It adds the fuller equipment set, including Hyundai’s Highway Drive Assist, the blind-spot view monitor and wireless charging, making it the trim to target if you want the most technology and convenience.

The Preferred trim can be upgraded with the Trend Package for added safety and convenience features.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 190 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.12% compared with last year.

What is the 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz's resale value?

The current average of $35,745 CAD sits slightly below last year's $40,215 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Santa Cruz has become more accessible for used buyers, which can make it easier for future sellers to attract interest if the market stays steady. A softer current market can also mean you may need to price competitively later if you plan to sell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz safe?

The 2024 Santa Cruz earns five-star ratings in front crash and four-star ratings in rollover from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Hyundai offers a pretty comprehensive set of advanced driver-assistance systems. All trims get forward collision avoidance with pedestrian detection, blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, lane-keep assist, lane-following assist, safe exit warning and rear occupant alert. The Ultimate trim gets everything, including Hyundai’s Highway Drive Assist, which pairs adaptive cruise control and lane-centring, plus the blind-spot view monitor.

A key caveat is that the 2024 model has not yet been rated by IIHS. The 2023 model received Good or Superior ratings in most tests, but its headlamps were rated Poor.

Should I buy a 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.12% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 keeps the Santa Cruz formula familiar while adding a few new touches.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $37,861 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $35,745 CAD average.
• It adds new tech, styling updates and off-roading enhancements.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2024 is the smarter buy because prices have eased and the core package remains strong. If you are willing to pay more for newer tech and updates, the 2025 is the better alternative.
