How much does the 2024 Hyundai Kona cost?

Prices have softened 11.40% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 743 listings available, which suggests healthy inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2024 Hyundai Kona a good car?

Yes — you get a 5/5 user rating and an 8.3/10 expert rating, which points to broad appeal for used shoppers.

The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

The 2024 Kona is all-new, with a new look, new technology, and a compact footprint that keeps everyday practicality front and centre. It is especially compelling if you want a well-rounded small SUV with multiple powertrain options, impressive technology, and standard advanced safety features.

The main trade-offs are fairly pedestrian performance and not enough covered storage in the cabin.

With 29.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Hyundai Kona reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Kona’s fresh generation brings updated technology and a more modern package, while Hyundai’s safety and driver-assistance approach adds confidence for everyday use. The available Highway Driving Assist suite is described as smooth and well-calibrated, which supports the impression of a well-sorted vehicle.

Hyundai also includes OTA update capability and connected services, which can help keep the vehicle’s systems current over time. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a more complex, tech-heavy small SUV can be costlier to keep up if features or electronics need attention.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Hyundai Kona?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Essential trim gets the new look and standard LED lighting, but the Preferred adds more equipment and the N Line brings the sportier appearance and larger wheels. If you want the best value, the Preferred is the trim to focus on because it adds meaningful comfort and convenience without jumping to the top of the range.
• Powertrain: The Essential and Preferred use a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre four-cylinder with a CVT, while the N Line uses a turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder with an 8-speed automatic. The turbo setup is the stronger choice if you want more punch, but the review notes that pickup can still feel a bit slow.
• Safety package: Hyundai’s Highway Driving Assist suite is part of the Kona’s safety story, and standard equipment includes Safe Exit Warning, blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, and high-beam assist. Adaptive cruise control is standard from the Preferred trim, while the N Line’s Ultimate package adds Surround View Monitor and blind-spot view monitor.
• Infotainment: Every 2024 Kona gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on all trims in Canada except the N Line with the Ultimate package, OTA update capability, and Bluelink connected services. The N Line also gets dual 12.3-inch displays in the curved housing.
• Fuel efficiency: The Essential with FWD is rated at 8.1 L/100 km city, 6.8 highway, and 7.5 combined. With AWD, those figures rise to 8.8/8.1/8.5 L/100 km. The N Line AWD is rated at 9.7 L/100 km city, 8.3 highway, and 9.1 combined.

Which 2024 Hyundai Kona trim should I buy?

The 2024 Hyundai Kona is offered in 3 trim levels: Essential, Preferred, N Line.

Here's the short version:

• Essential: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the new-generation Kona’s updated design, standard LED lighting, and the 12.3-inch touchscreen. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model.
• Preferred: This is the best-value trim because it adds more everyday convenience and safety equipment, including adaptive cruise control from this trim level. If you want the most balanced mix of price and features, start here.
• N Line: This is the sportier choice, with the turbocharged engine, paddle shifters, standard AWD, and more aggressive styling details. Choose it if you want the most performance-oriented version in the lineup.

Adaptive cruise control is standard from the Preferred trim, while the N Line’s Ultimate package adds Surround View Monitor and blind-spot view monitor.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Hyundai Kona?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.

• Deal availability: 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 743 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.40% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $27,291 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Hyundai Kona's resale value?

The current average of $27,291 CAD sits slightly below last year's $30,804 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer today, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if values continue to ease. The Kona’s strong feature set and broad appeal should help support demand, especially for well-equipped trims. If you buy at the right price now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Hyundai Kona safe?

The 2024 Kona earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

It comes with standard Safe Exit Warning, blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, and high-beam assist, which gives you a strong baseline of active safety equipment. Adaptive cruise control is standard from the Preferred trim, and the N Line’s Ultimate package adds Surround View Monitor and blind-spot view monitor.

Hyundai’s Highway Driving Assist suite is a highlight, with smooth lane-keeping behaviour that helps the Kona feel composed on the highway. The main caveat is that some of the more advanced safety features are reserved for higher trims or packages.

Should I buy a 2024 Hyundai Kona or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.40% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a new generation, new technology, and standard advanced safety features.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $29,571 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $27,291 CAD average.
• It keeps the same basic formula with no major changes.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2024 is the smarter buy because pricing has eased and inventory is healthy. If you prefer to pay more for a newer model year with the same core appeal, the 2025 is the straightforward alternative.
