CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Honda CR-V
Summary
With 62 currently listed for sale and an average price of $34,328 CAD, 11.3% of 2024 Honda CR-V listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Honda CR-V 3.75 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Honda CR-V stands out because it combines the CR-V’s long-running reputation for practicality with a more polished, more distinctive modern design. Honda comprehensively redesigned it for 2023, giving it a more handsome shape and a bigger interior, while keeping the model’s emphasis on efficiency and everyday usability. It remains a five-passenger compact crossover with the roomy cabin and cargo area that have long been part of the CR-V’s appeal, and it continues to be known for reliability, safety, and economy.
For 2024, the CR-V’s standard safety equipment includes adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, and traffic sign recognition, and it earned a Top Safety Pick designation from IIHS in 2024. The infotainment system is described as basic, but top trims get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the CR-V is still easy to learn to operate. The hybrid version is especially notable, with a drivetrain rated at 204 system horsepower and 247 pound-feet of torque and capable of burning as little as 6.4 litres per 100 kilometres combined, while the gas-powered version uses a 190-horsepower 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo engine.
As a used buy, the 2024 Honda CR-V is appealing because it is still very new and offers a lot of equipment, but it is not the cheapest compact SUV on the market. The source notes that Canadian pricing for new CR-Vs is among the highest in the segment, and that used examples can still be expensive, especially hybrids. It is also not the most spirited driver or the most distinctive in style, so buyers prioritising excitement may want to look elsewhere, but those wanting a practical, well-equipped, and highly regarded crossover will find plenty to like.

Nice smooth drivetrain and comfortable ride. Roomy. LX trim has good basics. Some things I felt were missing: - Stiff suspension - can strongly feel potholes and bumps on the road - No wireless CarPlay/Android auto - need a cable pipe in the phone - Just one USB charging port - seems low even for a modern base model. No ports for back seats at all, not even a rear 12V. - No blindspot alert system - feels somewhat scary if you're coming from a car that had one.

| Average Price a Year Ago | $38,459 CAD |

Is the 2024 Honda CR-V a good car?
The 2024 Honda CR-V is a strong fit if you want a practical, well-equipped compact crossover with a roomy cabin and cargo area. It carries a user rating of 3.8/5, and its appeal is rooted in everyday usability, efficiency, and a design that feels more polished than before.
Honda’s standard safety equipment includes adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, and traffic sign recognition, and the CR-V earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick designation in 2024. The infotainment system is basic, but the layout is easy to learn, and top trims add wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
With 28.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively without feeling rushed.
Is the 2024 Honda CR-V reliable?
The 2024 Honda CR-V continues to be known for reliability, safety, and economy. It builds on a long-running reputation for practicality, and Honda’s redesign gives it a more modern package without moving away from the model’s core strengths.
For used buyers, that combination of proven nameplate, sensible packaging, and standard safety equipment helps reduce day-to-day ownership worry. Long-term risk is still worth watching on any used example, but this is the kind of SUV that should reward careful maintenance rather than surprise you with drama.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Honda CR-V?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.
- Deal availability: 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 952 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.28% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $34,123 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Honda CR-V's resale value?
The current average of $34,123 CAD sits slightly below last year's $38,459 CAD.
That suggests the CR-V has softened enough to create a better entry point for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face more price pressure than they would have a year ago. If you buy well now, you may still preserve value reasonably well because the CR-V remains a popular, practical crossover. The key is to avoid overpaying today, since resale strength depends heavily on your purchase price.
Should I buy a 2024 Honda CR-V or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.28% compared with last year.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $32,411 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $34,123 CAD average.
- It offers a roomy, comfortable cabin with a strong everyday balance.
The bottom line: The 2024 is the better pick if you want the newer version and are willing to pay a bit more for it. If your priority is value, the 2023 is the smarter alternative because it undercuts the current year while keeping much of the CR-V’s core appeal.
How does the 2024 Honda CR-V compare to the 2024 Toyota RAV4?
