Is the 2024 GMC Sierra 3500HD a good car?

Yes — the 2024 GMC Sierra 3500HD earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. It is aimed at buyers who want serious heavy-duty capability, with a wide range of cab, bed, axle, and trim combinations, plus a more polished, upscale character than many trucks in its class. If you want a truck that can handle demanding work while still offering increasingly sophisticated towing and comfort features, this model year fits that brief well. With 30.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is also a meaningful amount of market opportunity.

Is the 2024 GMC Sierra 3500HD reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 GMC Sierra 3500HD is built around heavy-duty work, with its strongest versions delivering substantial towing and hauling capability, and its broad trim range suggests it was engineered to serve both jobsite and upscale use cases. The added 2024 updates, including expanded trailering tech and a more modern cabin presentation on higher trims, reinforce its practical focus. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the truck’s mission and more about choosing a configuration that matches your needs, since higher-spec versions can be expensive to own and maintain.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 GMC Sierra 3500HD?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 208 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.53% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $80,840 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 GMC Sierra 3500HD's resale value?

The current average of $81,496 CAD sits slightly below last year's $85,363 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more selectively now but may also mean less immediate upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the current trend implies you should pay close attention to trim, equipment, and condition, because well-equipped trucks in strong shape are more likely to stand out when the market is softer. Heavy-duty pickups with broad appeal and strong capability tend to hold attention better than niche configurations.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2024 GMC Sierra 3500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the most balanced mix of heavy-duty capability, updated tech, and a more polished cabin feel, the 2024 is the year to focus on. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby older year may be the better path, especially if you can find a well-kept truck with the equipment you need at a lower asking price.
