Used 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 for Sale nearThunder Bay, ON

How much does the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 15.86% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,714 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.6/5 owner-rated truck with an expert score of 7.2/10. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise the powerful engine, comfortable and spacious interior, and well-equipped features. The design and luxury touches also come through strongly, with several owners liking the styling compared with competitors.

The trade-offs are worth keeping in mind: some drivers mention emissions-control concerns and infotainment issues, including the need for a data plan. In context, this is a truck that aims to work as a basic hauler, an off-roader, or a luxurious long-distance cruiser, so its appeal is broad rather than narrowly specialised.

With 36.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a truck that feels dependable in daily use, with many shoppers highlighting its comfortable cabin, strong power, and well-equipped nature. The expert drive notes also support that impression, especially the smooth, linear delivery from the diesel powertrain and the well-mannered 10-speed automatic.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that some infotainment and emissions-related concerns have shown up in owner feedback, so a careful test drive and feature check matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 GMC Sierra 1500?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Pro is aimed primarily at commercial fleets, while the higher trims add more comfort, luxury, and off-road capability. Base models are also much more basic inside, so make sure the equipment level matches how you plan to use the truck.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a 2.7-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, two V8s, or a 3.0-litre Duramax turbodiesel. The diesel stands out for smooth, linear power delivery and strong torque, while the V8s use Dynamic Fuel Management to help improve fuel economy.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and a rear-seat reminder. Adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and park assist are optional, and Super Cruise is available on Denali and Denali Ultimate models.
• Infotainment: Base Pro models get a 7-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. SLE and higher trims add a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 13.4-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Google Built-In.
• Fuel efficiency: The Duramax diesel is rated at 9.2 L/100 km combined with RWD and 9.6 L/100 km combined with 4WD. The TurboMax four-cylinder can achieve 12 L/100 km combined in some configurations, while the V8s land in the 14 to 16 L/100 km range.

Which 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 is offered in 8 trim levels: Pro, SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, AT4X, Denali, and Denali Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• Pro: This is the work-focused starting point, but it’s also the most stripped-back version. Choose it only if you want the lowest entry point and can live without the richer tech and comfort features found higher up.
• SLE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the larger digital display and the 13.4-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone connectivity and Google Built-In.
• Elevation: This trim builds on the SLE formula with a more style-conscious presentation, making it a good fit if you want a nicer look without jumping all the way to luxury pricing.
• SLT: This is the better choice if you want a more upscale everyday truck with broader comfort and convenience appeal.
• AT4: This is the off-road-oriented pick, and it gets the diesel engine as standard for 2024 along with the lift kit, locking rear differential, and skid plates.
• AT4X: This is the more serious off-road version, adding a front locker and more sophisticated dampers.
• Denali: This is the luxury-leaning trim if you want the signature chrome look and a more premium feel without going all the way to the top.
• Denali Ultimate: This is the most lavish choice, especially if you want the richest comfort features and available Super Cruise.

Safety equipment is decent, but not all advanced safety features are standard, so check the exact package on any used example you’re considering.

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,714 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.86% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $54,287 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $54,287 CAD sits slightly below last year's $64,520 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy more truck for the money today, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive resale environment if prices continue to normalise. The current year-round range still shows meaningful spread, which suggests condition, trim, and equipment will matter a lot when you eventually sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 safe?

The 2024 Sierra 1500 Crew Cab received a Good score in the driver-side small overlap front crash test, Good scores in the original moderate overlap front and side crash tests, and an Acceptable score in the updated side crash test from IIHS. It also earned five-star overall safety ratings from NHTSA, five-star ratings for side-crash protection, and four-star ratings in rollover and frontal crash testing.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and a rear-seat reminder. Adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and park assist are optional, and Super Cruise is available on Denali and Denali Ultimate models.

The main caveat is that crash-test performance is uneven by class standards, especially the passenger-side small overlap result and the updated side-test score.

Should I buy a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.86% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 brings broad configuration flexibility, strong tech, and a fuel-efficient diesel option.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $49,041 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $54,287 CAD average.
• It leans especially hard into luxury with the Denali Ultimate trim.

The bottom line: Choose the 2024 if you want the stronger current-market value signal and the broadest mix of trims, powertrains, and tech. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2023 is the better price-sensitive path.
