How much does the 2024 Buick Encore GX cost?

Prices have softened 8.69% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 270 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Buick Encore GX a good car?

Yes — it earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

The 2024 Buick Encore GX is a smartly refreshed subcompact crossover with an attractive design, a comfortable ride, and impressive cargo space for its segment. It is aimed at everyday use, and Buick’s updated look plus the new touchscreen give it a more upscale feel than many small crossovers.

The trade-offs are that the new touchscreen underwhelms and performance could be better, so you should not expect a particularly engaging drive.

With 38.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is meaningful value in the market if you shop carefully.

Is the 2024 Buick Encore GX reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Encore GX is presented as economical and easy to live with, with a smooth ride and a decent powertrain that should suit daily use well. Its straightforward nature and comfortable character point to a vehicle that is built for routine ownership rather than drama.

The 1.3-litre turbocharged engine and nine-speed automatic are described as responsive enough, and the ride quality is smooth over rough pavement. Buick also backs it with a 3-year/60,000-kilometre basic limited warranty and a 5-year/100,000-kilometre powertrain warranty.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is more about satisfaction with the touchscreen and passing power than about core dependability.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Buick Encore GX?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Preferred, Sport Touring, and Avenir trims give you different levels of visual polish, with the Avenir adding its own unique grille and chrome trim, while the top two trims also get new LED tail lights. The base trim misses some of the more upscale appearance touches, so you should compare equipment carefully if you want the most premium feel.
• Powertrain: In Canada, you get a 1.3-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine with 155 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic. It is available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and the selectable AWD system lets you choose when to engage it.
• Safety package: Buick’s Driver Confidence package is standard and includes lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, a following distance indicator, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Rear park assist, adaptive cruise control, and a 360-degree camera are extra.
• Infotainment: You get an 11-inch touchscreen paired with an 8-inch digital gauge cluster under one pane of glass. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and USB-A and USB-C ports, a wireless charging pad, and a 120-volt outlet are available.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates the Encore GX at 7.8 L/100 km in FWD and 8.8 L/100 km with AWD.

Which 2024 Buick Encore GX trim should I buy?

The 2024 Buick Encore GX is offered in 3 trim levels: Preferred, Sport Touring, and Avenir.

Here's the short version:

• Preferred: This is the entry point, and it makes the Encore GX accessible if you want the refreshed design, standard safety suite, and the core comfort-and-practicality formula without paying for extra polish.
• Sport Touring: This is the best-value choice if you want a more distinctive look, since it adds some visual flair and can be paired with black roof, black mirrors, and black roof rails on certain colours.
• Avenir: This is the most upscale version, with its own unique grille and chrome trim, plus the premium feel that suits buyers who want the most polished Encore GX experience.

The standard Driver Confidence safety package is included on every trim, while rear park assist, adaptive cruise control, and a 360-degree camera remain extra.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Buick Encore GX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 38.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 270 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.69% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $28,727 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Buick Encore GX's resale value?

The current average of $28,786 CAD sits slightly below last year's $31,524 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, which can make future resale a little more competitive for sellers. If you buy at the right price now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to last year’s average.

The Encore GX’s practical appeal, comfortable ride, and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand over time. Still, resale will depend on how well the market continues to value its upscale feel and everyday usability.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Buick Encore GX safe?

The 2024 Buick Encore GX earns five-star ratings in frontal crash and side crash, and a four-star rating in rollover from NHTSA. It has not yet been rated by IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Buick’s Driver Confidence package is standard and includes lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, a following distance indicator, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Teen Driver and Buckle to Drive are also standard.

Rear park assist, adaptive cruise control, and a 360-degree camera are extra. The system also lacks adjustable intervention timing for automatic braking, so you cannot tailor how early or late it activates.

Should I buy a 2024 Buick Encore GX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 38.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.69% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The refreshed design, new touchscreen, and first-year Avenir trim make this the most upscale Encore GX yet.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $24,049 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $28,786 CAD average.
• It offers a comfortable, practical, upscale-feeling small SUV.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest look, the new Avenir trim, and the strongest current-market value signal, the 2024 is the better pick. If your priority is saving money and you are happy with the older version’s comfort and practicality, the 2023 is the smarter budget choice.
