Used 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan for Sale nearSt Catharines, ON

How much does the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan cost?

Prices have softened 17.10% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 742 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating and 7.67/10 expert rating point to a Tiguan that lands well overall. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

The Tiguan’s appeal is strongest if you want a crossover SUV that feels more upscale in appearance and more enjoyable to drive than many rivals. It also stands out for its larger-than-average interior, available third row, and generous cargo space, so it suits you well if everyday usefulness matters as much as style.

The trade-offs are clear: performance is fairly pedestrian, the ergonomic design is poor, and the technology is unintuitive. If you are sensitive to frustrating interfaces, those drawbacks may matter more than the Tiguan’s polished look and handling.

With 29.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is some room to find value if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Tiguan’s overall character points to solid day-to-day dependability if you value a roomy, practical crossover with a refined feel. Its robust construction and strong safety technology support that impression, while the powertrain’s quirks and the infotainment system’s complexity are the main things that can make ownership feel less seamless.

The performance side is not especially smooth or powerful, but it is described as rewarding once you acclimate to its quirks. That suggests the long-term ownership risk for used buyers is less about outright durability and more about living with a few persistent annoyances.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The trim ladder changes the Tiguan’s look and equipment quite a bit, and the base version leaves you with fewer choices than higher trims. The Highline R-Line is the most upscale-feeling version described here, with sporty styling, 20-inch wheels, adaptive front lighting, and an illuminated grille light bar.
• Powertrain: You get a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 184 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. In Canada, 4Motion all-wheel drive is standard, and the driving modes include Eco, Normal, Sport, Individual, Onroad, Snow, Offroad, and Custom Offroad.
• Safety package: Front Assist and Side Assist are standard, with forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. IQ.Drive adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, active blind-spot monitoring, Lane Assist, Travel Assist, and Emergency Assist; it is optional on base models and standard on other models.
• Infotainment: Lower trims use a 6.5-inch touchscreen, while other versions get an 8-inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, Car-Net connected services, SiriusXM 360L, and a nine-speaker Fender premium sound system appear on the top trim, but the interface can be cumbersome.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada says the R-Line trims should average 9.8 L/100 km in combined driving, and the test vehicle returned 10.4 L/100 km on the review loop.

Which 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan trim should I buy?

The 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan is offered in 4 trim levels: Trendline, Comfortline, Comfortline R-Line Black, and Highline R-Line.

Here's the short version:

• Trendline: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Tiguan’s core space, standard safety tech, and standard all-wheel drive without paying for extra appearance or convenience upgrades.
• Comfortline: This is the best-value trim if you want a more balanced mix of equipment and price, since it moves you beyond the base model without jumping straight to the top-spec look and features.
• Comfortline R-Line Black: Choose this if you want the sportier R-Line styling and a more distinctive appearance while staying below the top trim.
• Highline R-Line: This is the one to buy if you want the most upscale Tiguan experience, with the richest feature set, the larger 10.25-inch digital display, and the most premium presentation.

IQ.Drive is optional on base models and standard on other models, so that is an important safety-package difference to keep in mind.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 742 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.10% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $27,276 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan's resale value?

The current average of $27,507 CAD sits slightly below last year's $33,183 CAD.

That decline suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, which can make the Tiguan easier to purchase now than it was a year ago. For a future seller, that also means you should expect resale values to reflect the softer pricing environment rather than the higher levels seen previously.

The Tiguan’s strong utility, upscale feel, and broad appeal should still help support demand. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan safe?

The 2023 Tiguan earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS, though that rating does not apply for the 2023 calendar year.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

All Tiguans have standard Front Assist and Side Assist. Front Assist includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, while Side Assist adds blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. Volkswagen also includes an Automatic Post Collision Braking System that helps reduce the chance of secondary impacts after a crash.

IQ.Drive bundles additional driver assistance features, including adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, active blind-spot monitoring, Lane Assist, Travel Assist, and Emergency Assist. On base models, that package is optional, while it is standard on other models.

There is one important caveat: NHTSA testing is incomplete, and NHTSA also says the driver’s door unlatched and opened during the side-impact test, which is a safety concern.

Should I buy a 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.10% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 stands out for its upscale appearance, roomy cabin, and available third row.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $25,347 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $27,507 CAD average.
• It is a refined, lightly refreshed version of Volkswagen’s roomy compact SUV.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $29,567 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $27,507 CAD average.
• It adds value through upgrades and a more premium look.

The bottom line: The 2023 is the right pick if you want the Tiguan’s polished styling, strong practicality, and softer pricing than the newer model year. If your priority is saving money, the 2022 is the better value path; if you want the newer upgrades and can spend more, the 2024 is the step up to consider.
