Is the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

The Tiguan’s premium appearance helps it feel more upscale than its price might suggest, and its standard advanced safety features add to its appeal if you want useful equipment without moving up the trim ladder. It also has good handling, which supports its polished character.

The trade-offs are clear: the driving experience is less than impressive, the throttle is irritating, and the seats are uncomfortable.

With 31.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is a meaningful share of attractive inventory to consider.

Is the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Tiguan is presented as a carryover model for 2024, which supports the idea that its core formula is familiar. Volkswagen also backs it with a four-year/80,000-kilometre bumper-to-bumper limited warranty, plus 24/7 roadside assistance. The model also includes a complimentary four-year subscription to VW Car-Net, which adds remote access, automatic crash notifications, and stolen vehicle location assistance.

The main long-term ownership risk for used buyers is that its fuel efficiency and driving refinement may not feel as competitive as some rivals over time.

Should I buy a 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.68% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Volkswagen’s best-selling model gets a value boost from upgrades this year.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $27,507 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $29,567 CAD average.
• It feels more upscale in appearance and more enjoyable to drive.

Consider the 2025 if:

• It corrects the last generation’s user interface issues.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, standard safety equipment, and premium presentation, the 2024 is the primary path to consider. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2023 is the better price-sensitive alternative.
