Is the 2023 Volkswagen Atlas a good car?

With a 3/5 user rating, the 2023 Volkswagen Atlas looks like a solid fit if you want a three-row midsize SUV that prioritises space, practicality, and a straightforward layout. Its very roomy second and third rows, clean design, and refined driving dynamics make it especially appealing if you want a family-focused SUV with a more polished feel than its size might suggest.

It also suits buyers who value a sensible interior and a relaxed driving character, with available technology such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto helping round out the package. With 32.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Volkswagen Atlas reliable?

The 2023 Volkswagen Atlas is described as having below-average reliability compared with some rivals, and it also comes with notes about high maintenance costs and earlier-model issues involving the transmission and electrical system. Even so, it remains a practical, family-oriented SUV with a straightforward formula that many shoppers will find easy to live with.

For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is worth weighing carefully, especially if you plan to keep the vehicle for many years.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Volkswagen Atlas?

This looks like a moderate buyer’s market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 439 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.67% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $36,096 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Volkswagen Atlas's resale value?

The current average of $36,103 CAD sits slightly below last year's $43,853 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Atlas has softened meaningfully, which can help you buy at a more favourable point in the cycle. If you sell later, you may face more competition from similarly priced listings unless the market tightens again. For now, the trend favours buyers more than sellers.

Should I buy a 2023 Volkswagen Atlas or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.67% compared with last year.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $31,801 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $36,103 CAD average.
• It focuses on space and everyday usefulness.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $41,759 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $36,103 CAD average.
• It adds a major refresh with more standard features.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price and current-market value, the 2023 is the primary pick. If your priority is spending less, the 2022 is the better value play; if you want newer features and are willing to pay more, the 2024 is the stronger upgrade path.
