How much does the 2023 Toyota Tundra cost?

Is the 2023 Toyota Tundra a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Toyota Tundra earns a 4.83/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its powerful engine, comfortable interior, smooth ride, stylish appearance, and fuel efficiency. That lines up well with the Tundra’s use case as a full-size pickup that blends familiar truck capability with a more modern feel and a strong technology upgrade.

The main trade-offs are its polarising design and the fact that not all safety features are standard. Even so, the market still shows 31.7% of listings as good or great deals, which points to decent shopping opportunity if you want a well-equipped truck.

Is the 2023 Toyota Tundra reliable?

Owners rate it 4.83/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback also points to a reliable, dependable, and trouble-free ownership experience, with owners highlighting the truck’s strong engine and the confidence it inspires over time. The expert notes reinforce that impression by describing the powertrain as smooth and consistent, with a reputation for bullet-proof reliability.

Toyota also backs the truck with a three-year/60,000-kilometre new vehicle warranty and a five-year/100,000-kilometre powertrain warranty. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure any example you consider has been maintained properly and addressed for any recall-related concerns.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota Tundra?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup spans SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-road, Limited, Limited TRD Off-road, Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro, and Capstone. Base trims are more basic, while Limited and up add the large 14-inch touchscreen, and the TRD Pro brings clearance lamps, a skid plate, and a more rugged appearance.
• Powertrain: You get a standard 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 with 389 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque, plus an available i-FORCE MAX hybrid version with 437 hp and 583 lb-ft. The 10-speed automatic is standard, and the newer suspension improves composure over rough pavement and uneven terrain.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, lane-tracing assist, and sway warning. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available, but not standard across the lineup.
• Infotainment: Lower trims get an 8-inch touchscreen, while Limited and higher use a 14-inch multimedia screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the 14-inch system adds crisp graphics and fast response times.
• Fuel efficiency: The older 5.7-litre V8 returned 17.7 L/100 km city, 13.6 highway, and 15.9 combined in rear-wheel-drive form, or 18.0 city, 14.2 highway, and 16.3 combined with four-wheel drive.

Which 2023 Toyota Tundra trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota Tundra is offered in 10 trim levels: SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-road, Limited, Limited TRD Off-road, Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro, and Capstone.

Here's the short version:

• SR: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Tundra experience at the lowest price. It suits you if you want capability first and can live without the bigger screen and higher-end comfort features.
• SR5: This is the best-value starting point for many shoppers because it keeps the price in check while moving you up from the most basic trim. It makes sense if you want a more balanced daily driver without chasing luxury extras.
• TRD Sport: Choose this if you want a more style-forward truck with a sportier look, while still staying in the mainstream part of the lineup.
• TRD Off-road: This is the trim to consider if you want a more trail-ready setup without jumping all the way to the TRD Pro.
• Limited: This is the sweet spot for many buyers because it adds the 14-inch touchscreen and access to the hybrid powertrain. If you want the best mix of tech and everyday usability, start here.
• Limited TRD Off-road: Pick this if you want the Limited’s comfort and tech with a more rugged edge.
• Platinum: This trim leans into comfort and convenience, and it also gets the 12-speaker audio system.
• 1794 Edition: This is the more upscale, character-rich choice, and it also gets the 12-speaker audio system.
• TRD Pro: This is the genuine off-road model, with a 28-millimetre lift, Fox shocks, 33-inch tires, locking rear differential, crawl control, and downhill assist control. It’s the one to buy if trail performance matters most.
• Capstone: This is the luxury flagship, and it comes standard with the hybrid powertrain. Choose it only if you want the most premium Tundra experience.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard, but blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not standard on every trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota Tundra?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right truck.

• Deal availability: 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 315 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.70% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $50,907 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota Tundra's resale value?

The current average of $51,659 CAD sits slightly below last year's $55,968 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can make it harder for a future seller to command top dollar immediately. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to last year’s higher average. The current range also shows that well-priced examples still attract attention, especially when they’re equipped with desirable trims or features.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Toyota Tundra safe?

The 2023 Toyota Tundra earns a Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS for CrewMax models.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 comes standard, with automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, lane-tracing assist, and sway warning. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available, but they are not standard across the lineup.

The main caveat is that not all safety features are standard, so you should check the exact trim and equipment on any used example you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota Tundra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.70% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Toyota keeps the truck largely the same for 2023, preserving the newer-generation powertrain and technology.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $47,126 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $51,659 CAD average.
• It’s the first year of the redesigned Tundra with broad updates and strong owner loyalty.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $55,330 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $51,659 CAD average.
• It adds a more distinctive feel with the i-Force Max focus and available open-air driving experience.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, modern tech, and current-market value, the 2023 is the sensible default. If your budget is tighter, the 2022 can save you money while still giving you the redesigned truck; if you want a newer-feeling premium experience and can spend more, the 2024 is the step up to consider.
