For used shoppers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure any truck you consider has been maintained properly and checked for recall-related concerns.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota Tundra?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lower trims use an 8-inch touchscreen, while Limited and above get a massive 14-inch display. The TRD Pro adds clearance lamps, a skid plate, and a more aggressive appearance, while the interior across the range is roomy and comfortable.
• Powertrain: You get a standard 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6, and the hybrid i-FORCE MAX version is available on select trims and standard on Capstone. The 10-speed automatic helps the truck deliver smooth, consistent power.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard, with automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, lane-tracing assist, and sway warning. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available, but not standard on every trim.
• Infotainment: Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on all trims. The available 14-inch multimedia screen is standard on Limited and higher, and the digital instrument panel is a standout feature.
• Fuel efficiency: The newer powertrain was designed to improve efficiency, and the truck is described as significantly more composed than the previous generation.

Which 2023 Toyota Tundra trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota Tundra is offered in 10 trim levels: SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-road, Limited, Limited TRD Off-road, Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro, and Capstone.

Here's the short version:

• SR: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the Tundra’s strong output and core capability. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the lineup.
• SR5: A sensible step up if you want a little more equipment without moving too far up the price ladder.
• TRD Sport: Best if you want a sportier look and feel without jumping into the more specialised off-road trims.
• TRD Off-road: A better fit if you want added trail focus and more rugged character.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it unlocks the 14-inch touchscreen and the more premium tech experience.
• Limited TRD Off-road: Choose this if you want the Limited’s equipment with extra off-road capability.
• Platinum: A strong pick if you want a more upscale truck with more standard equipment.
• 1794 Edition: Best if you want a more distinctive luxury-oriented personality.
• TRD Pro: This is the off-road specialist, with a lift, Fox shocks, 33-inch tires, locking rear differential, crawl control, and downhill assist control.
• Capstone: The top luxury choice, with the hybrid powertrain standard and the most premium positioning in the lineup.

Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available, but they are not standard across the whole range.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota Tundra?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 336 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.13% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $50,844 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota Tundra's resale value?

The current average of $50,844 CAD sits slightly below last year's $54,745 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more favourable for buyers, which can make future resale more competitive if you buy at the right price. If you pay close to the current average, your room for appreciation is limited, so condition and trim choice matter more.

The Tundra’s strong equipment, modern powertrain, and broad appeal should help it stay relevant with used shoppers. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Toyota Tundra safe?

The 2023 Toyota Tundra earns a Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard, and it includes automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, lane-tracing assist, and sway warning. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available, but they are not standard across the lineup.

The main caveat is that not all safety features are standard, so you should check the exact trim and equipment before you buy.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota Tundra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.13% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the new-generation powertrain, modern tech, and strong value focus.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $46,996 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $50,844 CAD average.
• It’s an all-new redesign with broad updates and strong durability appeal.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $54,995 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $50,844 CAD average.
• It adds a more distinctive identity with the i-Force Max drivetrain and open-air driving experience.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, modernity, and market availability, the 2023 is the smart default. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2022 can save you money while still giving you the redesigned Tundra experience.
