Used 2023 Toyota 4Runner for Sale nearWeyburn, SK

How much does the 2023 Toyota 4Runner cost?

Prices have softened 7.58% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 137 listings available, which suggests a decent amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2023 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Toyota 4Runner earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, comfort, and strong performance, and they also highlight the spacious third row and family-friendly interior layout. The 4Runner’s rugged character and easy-to-use cabin controls also come through clearly in owner feedback.

The trade-offs are just as clear: it is not especially polished on the road, and fuel economy is a recurring downside. It suits you best if you want a traditional SUV with off-road ability, a roomy cabin, and simple controls rather than a modern crossover feel.

Good and great deals account for 27.7% of listings, so there are still some worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2023 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to reliability, dependability, and a vehicle you can count on over time. The expert assessment also describes it as having a reputation for legendary reliability and durability, with a rugged build that feels indestructible.

That said, used buyers should still weigh age-related ownership risk, especially because this model year is built around an older platform and comes with compromises in efficiency and refinement.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota 4Runner?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes the SR5, TRD Sport, Limited, 40th Anniversary Special Edition, TRD Off-Road, and TRD Pro. The 40th Anniversary Special Edition adds retro styling touches, bronze accents, and a numbered plaque, while the Limited and TRD Sport lean more toward on-road comfort than the more rugged trims. The base SR5 is the simplest starting point, so check carefully whether you want the extra equipment or the more distinctive appearance of the special edition.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a 4.0-litre V6 with a five-speed automatic and standard 4WD. The Limited gets full-time 4WD, while other versions use part-time 4WD. The 4Runner is built for durability and off-road use more than quick acceleration or polished road manners.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on every trim level.
• Infotainment: The biggest touchscreen is 8 inches, and the system includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM satellite radio. Connected services are available, and higher trims can add navigation and a JBL premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada fuel economy is 13.8 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving, and the test vehicle averaged 13.9 L/100 km.

Which 2023 Toyota 4Runner trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota 4Runner is offered in 6 trim levels: SR5, TRD Sport, Limited, 40th Anniversary Special Edition, TRD Off-Road, and TRD Pro.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the starting point if you want the 4Runner’s core ruggedness without paying for extra styling or capability upgrades. It makes sense if you mainly want the traditional body-on-frame SUV experience and plan to keep things simple.
• TRD Sport: Choose this if you want a 4Runner with a suspension tuned more for on-road athleticism. It is the better fit if you spend more time on pavement but still want the 4Runner’s utility and stance.
• Limited: This is the most comfort-oriented choice, and it also gets full-time 4WD. It suits you best if you want the 4Runner’s space and presence with a more road-friendly setup.
• 40th Anniversary Special Edition: This is the style pick. It adds retro body stripes, bronze wheels and trim, special badging, and a numbered plaque, so it is the one to choose if you want the most distinctive look.
• TRD Off-Road: Pick this if trail use matters most. It adds a suspension that improves wheel articulation by disconnecting the sway bars, making it the most obviously adventure-focused choice.
• TRD Pro: This is the most serious off-road version, with a skid plate and a suspension tuned for high-speed dirt performance using front and rear Fox shock absorbers. It is the right choice if you want the most capable factory setup.

Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on every trim level.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota 4Runner?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting deep discounts everywhere.

• Deal availability: 27.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 137 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.58% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $54,797 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $54,882 CAD sits slightly below last year's $59,386 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy more selectively now, but it also means future sellers may face a market that is less aggressive than it was a year ago. If prices stay near this level, resale value should remain supported by the 4Runner’s strong reputation and steady demand from buyers who want a rugged SUV.

The model’s appeal is still anchored by its loyal audience, especially shoppers who value reliability, space, and off-road capability. That kind of demand can help cushion depreciation compared with less distinctive SUVs.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Toyota 4Runner safe?

The 2023 Toyota 4Runner earns an overall four-star rating from NHTSA and a Marginal rating from IIHS.

It earns a 3/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on every trim level.

The main caveat is that the crash-test results are not a strength for this model year, especially given the age of the platform. That makes safety a key area to evaluate if you are comparing it with newer SUVs.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 27.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds standard blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $49,452 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $54,882 CAD average.
• It offers rugged off-road credibility with modern infotainment and safety tech.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $57,864 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $54,882 CAD average.
• It adds strong reliability and durability with plenty of cargo space.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price and features, the 2023 is the sensible pick. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2022 is the better value play, while the 2024 only makes sense if you are comfortable paying more for a newer model year.
