How much does the 2023 RAM 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 11.66% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,260 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 RAM 1500 a good car?

Yes — the 2023 RAM 1500 earns a 4.65/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Owners consistently praise the upscale interior, comfortable ride, and solid performance. The truck’s stylish design and good fuel economy also come up often, especially for a vehicle of this size.

That said, the expert review points to a few trade-offs: advanced safety features are not standard, and the truck is not the most technology-rich choice in the segment.

For you, that means the 2023 RAM 1500 makes the most sense if you want a full-size truck that feels more refined than a basic work truck while still handling real work. It also shows 34.1% good or great deals, which is a decent sign that value-minded shoppers can still find worthwhile listings.

Is the 2023 RAM 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.65/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a truck that feels dependable, with praise for its comfortable ride, upscale interior, and solid performance. It also suggests the RAM 1500 is a vehicle many drivers feel good about living with over time.

The expert review reinforces that impression with comments about the truck’s smooth ride, well-matched eight-speed automatic transmission, and strong powertrain. The powertrain warranty coverage also adds some reassurance for used buyers.

For long-term ownership, your main risk is less about basic durability and more about choosing the right configuration and checking that the features you want are actually equipped.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 RAM 1500?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lower trims are more basic, while higher trims bring the more upscale cabin materials, larger screens, and available premium touches that make the truck feel more refined.
• Powertrain: You can find rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, with a standard 3.6-litre V6 with eTorque on lower trims, an optional 5.7-litre Hemi V8 on lower trims and standard on upper trims, and an available 3.0-litre EcoDiesel on most trims.
• Safety package: The truck does not come with standard advanced driver-assistance systems, and even forward collision warning is not standard. Blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning are optional or bundled in packages.
• Infotainment: Lower trims use a 5-inch screen, mid trims typically get an 8.4-inch touchscreen, and upper trims can have the available 12-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included.
• Fuel efficiency: The 3.0-litre turbo diesel is the most efficient option at 11.1 L/100 km city, 8.0 highway, and 9.7 combined. The V8 4WD eTorque setup is rated at 13.5 L/100 km city, 10.5 highway, and 12.1 combined.

Which 2023 RAM 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2023 RAM 1500 is offered in 8 trim levels: Tradesman, Big Horn, Sport, Rebel, Laramie, Limited Longhorn, Limited, and TRX.

Here's the short version:

• Tradesman: This is the least expensive path into the RAM 1500, but it is also the most basic. It suits you if you want the truck’s core capability and are willing to give up the richer cabin materials and bigger tech features found higher up the range.
• Big Horn: This is a sensible step up if you want a more everyday-friendly version without jumping too far in price. It should suit you if you want a better balance of equipment and value than the entry trim.
• Sport: Choose this if you want a more distinctive look without moving into the luxury end of the lineup. It is a good fit if style matters, but you still want a mainstream truck setup.
• Rebel: This is the trim to consider if you want the off-road-oriented character mentioned in the review, including a 2.5-centimetre lift, skid plates, and hill-descent control.
• Laramie: This is the trim to target if you want a more premium-feeling cabin and stronger comfort focus without going all the way to the top. It is a strong middle-ground choice.
• Limited Longhorn: This trim leans into upscale materials and a more distinctive premium presentation. It suits you if interior ambience matters as much as capability.
• Limited: This is the best-value recommendation if you want the richest mix of comfort, materials, and available tech. The review model shows how much more polished the truck can feel here, especially with the 12-inch screen and available premium equipment.
• TRX: This is the extreme performance choice, with the supercharged 6.2-litre V8 and serious off-road hardware. It is for you if outright performance matters more than fuel economy or price.

The safety content also notes that advanced driver-assistance features are not standard, so you should verify exactly which safety package is fitted on any used example.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 RAM 1500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,260 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.66% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $41,357 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 RAM 1500's resale value?

The current average of $41,594 CAD sits slightly below last year's $47,082 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help future buyers but may pressure resale values for current owners. If you plan to sell later, the softer pricing trend means you may need to be more competitive than owners did a year ago.

Even so, the RAM 1500’s broad appeal still helps. A truck with strong comfort, premium materials, and solid owner satisfaction can continue to attract buyers even when the market cools.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.65/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 RAM 1500 safe?

The 2023 Ram 1500 crew cab earns five-star ratings overall from NHTSA. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives it Good marks across the board except for Marginal grades for seat belt reminders and LATCH ease of use.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The truck’s safety equipment is a mixed bag. Nothing is standard across the board, not even forward collision warning, while blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning are optional or bundled in packages.

If you add blind-spot monitoring, it can cover the length of a trailer, which is especially useful when towing in traffic. The main caveat is that you should not assume a used RAM 1500 has the driver aids you want unless you confirm the exact package and trim.

Should I buy a 2023 RAM 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.66% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.65/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the RAM formula of comfort, premium materials, and strong capability while still feeling current enough for most used-truck shoppers.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $40,416 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $41,594 CAD average.
• It blends design, comfort, utility, technology, and driving character in a way that is easy to appreciate.

The bottom line: If you want the better current-market balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction, the 2023 is the stronger pick. If your priority is saving money and you still want the RAM 1500’s comfort-first character, the 2022 is the smarter value play.
