Used 2023 Nissan Altima for Sale nearHamilton, ON

How much does the 2023 Nissan Altima cost?

Prices have softened 14.22% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 80 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Nissan Altima a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Nissan Altima earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its fuel economy, responsive driving experience, and quality audio system. It also fits well as a practical family sedan and commuter, especially if you want everyday usefulness and standard all-wheel drive without moving into an SUV.

The trade-offs are clear: performance is fairly pedestrian, and the interior materials feel cheap. Even so, the Altima’s value-focused setup and comfortable, easy-to-live-with character make it a sensible choice for shoppers who prioritise practicality.

With 26.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to find a competitive example.

Is the 2023 Nissan Altima reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, cost-effective ownership experience, with owners highlighting fuel economy and a car they can count on for daily driving. The expert evaluation also describes Nissan’s CVT as a good one and notes that the brand has been building them for decades, which supports the Altima’s long-term usability.

Nissan also includes a first scheduled maintenance visit that is on the house, which helps early ownership costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether you can live with the Altima’s modest performance and cabin quality over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Nissan Altima?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The S, SR trim, SR Premium, and Platinum each build on the Altima’s standard all-wheel-drive setup, but the lower trims miss some of the more appealing convenience and tech upgrades. The higher trims also bring a more upscale look, including 19-inch wheel designs.
• Powertrain: Every Canadian Altima uses a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with a CVT. Output is 182 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque, and the standard AWD system can send up to half of the engine’s output to the rear wheels when needed.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a driver monitoring system, rear-seat reminder, Easy Fill Tire Alert, rear automatic braking, and automatic high-beam headlights. ProPilot Assist adds adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and lane-centring assist on SR Premium and Platinum.
• Infotainment: The standard setup is an 8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, wired Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, and SiriusXM satellite radio with 360L. SR Premium and Platinum get a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, navigation via smartphone app, and wireless charging.
• Fuel efficiency: Official fuel consumption is 7.9 L/100 km combined for the base trim, or 8.1 L/100 km combined for the SR, SR Premium, and Platinum.

Which 2023 Nissan Altima trim should I buy?

The 2023 Nissan Altima is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SR trim, SR Premium, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the value play if you want the Altima’s core strengths at the lowest entry point. You still get standard AWD, the 8-inch touchscreen, and the full Safety Shield 360 suite, so it covers the essentials well.
• SR trim: Choose this if you want a sportier look and the same basic mechanical package, with the higher-trim styling cues that make the car look more polished.
• SR Premium: This is the best-value upgrade if you want the Altima to feel meaningfully more modern. It adds the 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, ProPilot Assist, and the Bose nine-speaker audio system.
• Platinum: Pick this if you want the most fully equipped Altima, including the larger touchscreen, ProPilot Assist, the Bose audio system, and the surround-view camera system.

ProPilot Assist is included only on SR Premium and Platinum, so those trims are the ones to target if highway driver assistance matters to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Nissan Altima?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 26.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 80 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.22% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $23,321 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Nissan Altima's resale value?

The current average of $23,442 CAD sits slightly below last year's $27,330 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Altima has softened enough to create a more buyer-friendly market today, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about pricing. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to last year’s average. The Altima’s broad appeal as a practical sedan should still help support demand, especially among shoppers who want standard AWD and straightforward value.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Nissan Altima safe?

The 2023 Nissan Altima earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and five-star rollover resistance ratings, though it receives a four-star rating for front passenger frontal impact safety. It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a driver monitoring system, rear-seat reminder, Easy Fill Tire Alert, rear automatic braking, and automatic high-beam headlights.

ProPilot Assist is standard on SR Premium and Platinum, where it adds adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and lane-centring assist. The main caveat is the updated IIHS side-impact result, where the Altima receives a Poor rating.

Should I buy a 2023 Nissan Altima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 26.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.22% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines standard AWD, strong safety tech, and a useful 12.3-inch screen on higher trims.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $22,547 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $23,442 CAD average.
• It keeps the Altima’s standard AWD focus and simpler trim structure.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $26,786 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $23,442 CAD average.
• It continues the Altima’s practical formula with subtle updates and strong standard safety tech.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, equipment, and market availability, the 2023 is the sweet spot. If your priority is saving money, the 2022 is the better value target. If you want the newer model-year alternative and are willing to pay more, the 2024 is the cleaner upgrade path.
